The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 995

“My goodness, a two-million-dollar red wine? I don’t even have two million in my savings, let alone the money to afford such expensive wine!”

“Yes, me too! We have to thank Madelyn.”

“Wow, Madelyn. Is your brother here too? If he is, we should invite him to join us! We’ve never seen the CEO of Jardin Corporation in real life. We’ve actually never seen any big shots who appear on the covers of financial magazines in real life.”

“Yes! Madelyn, can we meet him?”

“I’m not very close to him,” Madelyn casually said to stop them from talking about it. Madelyn continued cutting the cake while Clement and Dorian helped her with it.

Clement intensely looked at Madelyn’s delicate side profile as she focused on cutting the cake. Her stray strands of hair hanging around the ear made him want to tuck them. Her skin was also fair. She was a charming natural beauty.

Madelyn put down the knife. She then stood straight and happened to meet Clement’s eyes. She said with a smile, “I’m done cutting the cakes. You can start distributing them.

“Also, please return the wine! We’ve already ordered drinks. Let’s not trouble him.”

The studio employees thought they were lucky enough to taste such an expensive wine tonight. This was a wine that could make many envy them. When they heard Madelyn ask to return it, many of them suddenly stopped talking and were disappointed.

The waitress hesitated and said, “Ms. Jent, Mr. Jardin specifically instructed this. Also, he’s paying for all of tonight’s private room expenses for all of you. You don’t need to worry about this.”

The waitress would receive a substantial commission if this bottle of wine was opened.

Madelyn took the tissue handed to her by Clement and wiped off the cream that had accidentally gotten on her. She politely declined, “I appreciate his kindness. But please tell him that we can’t accept such expensive wine.

“Also, please return to him the money he’d paid. We’ll pay for our own expenses. Thank you!”

The waitress said, “But…”

She still wanted to say something, but Madelyn coldly interrupted, “Don’t you understand what I said? Do you need me to repeat it?”

Upon noticing the tense atmosphere, Clement hurriedly said, “Return the wine! We’re just workfolks; we can’t afford to drink such expensive wine.”

The waitress did not say anything further. She just turned around and left.

The waitress wondered, ‘Isn’t this the lady who was said to be getting married to the CEO of Jardin Corporation? It was such a huge news. And that was just a bottle of wine. Why do I feel like they seem more like enemies?’

The waitress had no choice but to report the entire situation to Zach. In the opposite private room, Zach was still recovering from the effects of alcohol.

The waitress approached him and said, “Mr. Jardin, Ms. Jent has returned the wine and requested that all the money you paid is to be refunded to you.”

Zach was leaning against the sofa with his eyes closed. He tiredly pinched his eyebrows. It seemed like he had anticipated that Madelyn would reject him. That was why he felt so frustrated. Zach responded, “Okay, I got it.”

The waitress missed out on the chance of getting the commission. She could only reluctantly return the wine.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
