The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 994

Madelyn chuckled, “I was just teasing you guys.”

Clement and Dorian did not expect that. They thought, ‘Madelyn finally jokes.’

The next moment, Madelyn’s expression turned stiff when she saw Zach and Cecilia walking closer. Dorian and Clement were shocked, too. The four of them were looking at Madelyn at the same time. Clement reacted, “M-Mr. Jardin, Ms. Samford!”

Cecilia was wearing a red dress draped in a black blazer. She smiled confidently, “Madelyn? Why didn’t you tell us that you’re here? Zach and I would’ve gone to get you if we’d known.” Cecilia turned to Zach, “Zach, why didn’t you bring her along?”

Madelyn sneered without replying to Cecilia. She did not show much expression on her face. She just ignored them, walked toward the private room, and pushed the door open to enter. Madelyn thought, ‘I’m so disgusted.’

Clement and Dorian hurriedly followed Madelyn into the private room. Dorian asked, “Madelyn, isn’t he your brother? Back then, some news reported that you were going to marry him. Is it true?”

Clement gave Dorian a warning look. Madelyn unabashedly responded, “It was fake news. Do you think a brother would marry his own sister?”

Dorian nodded as he thought, ‘It makes sense. After all, the last time we returned to Ventropolis to hold the art exhibition, Mr. Jardin himself admitted that Madelyn was his sister. So, the news must be false.’

Zach and Cecilia, standing outside the room, heard what Madelyn said.

Zach gently pushed away Cecilia’s hands that were holding him. She was not angry. Instead, she felt satisfied for successfully getting back at Madelyn. Cecilia thought, ‘This thirty billion dollar contract is worth it for making Madelyn uncomfortable!’

Madelyn had never thought much about the relationship between Zach and Cecilia. She felt it was none of her business. She would rather not know Zach and Cecilia at all.

The lively atmosphere in the room helped Madelyn quickly push aside those distracting thoughts. The people inside sang, played games, and drank.

Madelyn was allergic to alcohol. So, she could only drink fruit juice. When the dishes were served, and everyone was ready to eat, a waitress suddenly brought another bottle of wine.

Someone who was familiar with wines saw the Etlinish letters on the bottle and was shocked, Damn, isn’t this the two-million-dollar wine on the menu? Who ordered this?”

Madelyn was distributing cakes to them. When she heard that, she looked over and frowned. She looked unhappy.

The waitress said, “Mr. Jardin from Jardin Corporation is in the opposite room. He sent this bottle of wine over. Rest assured, this bottle of wine has already been paid for.”

This reply shocked everyone. They proceeded to stare at Madelyn.  They thought, ‘The only person here who can have such a connection with Jardin Corporation is Madelyn. After all, she’s Mr. Jardin’s fiancée.’

Many people started talking about it.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
