The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 982

Kevin lowered his gaze and looked at Blake, kneeling on the ground. His gaze switched to the doctor, and he asked, ” Dr. Osborn, please keep this matter a secret, even from the hospital. I’ll send someone to handle this.”

Craig Osborn nodded his head and replied, “Alright. You can see me anytime for any future treatment for her.”

Kevin thanked him, “Thank you.”

When everyone left, Kevin told Blake, ”

Worrying now won’t solve the issue. I’ve already called for a cab. For now, return to Ventropolis with Mrs. Harper. After that, I will arrange for future treatment for Mrs. Harper.”

Blake’s eyes were red as she said, “You still haven’t told me what happened to Grace,”

Kevin replied, “You don’t need to know about it. You will do as I say if you want to ensure the Harper family’s safety. Ventropolis will be thrown into chaos for a while. I can’t promise the Harper family will survive.”

Blake argued, “You still need to tell me who did this to Grace! Besides, how would I know if you were the one who did this to her!”

Kevin furrowed his brows and stared at Blake, who was losing her cool. He retorted, “How did you even graduate from Ventropolis University? Besides, even if I did tell you, what could you do about it? Rather than wasting time, just pack your things and return to Floral Loft.”

Kevin raised his arm to check the time. He had driven here and wasted enough time. He needed to rush back to the office before daybreak. Coincidentally, Grace woke up from her coma.

“Where am I?” She asked.

Blake shouted, “Grace? You’re awake?”

“Mr. Harrison? Why are you here? Blake? Didn’t you go to the airport with Mya? Where’s Mya?” Grace mumbled.

“Have some rest, Mrs. Harper. I have other business to attend to. Goodbye,” Kevin said. Blake did not expect him to leave, just like he said. After Kevin left, he put on his Bluetooth earpiece and called someone.

“Yes, Cecilia has started to target the Harper family. Her next move might be the company,” Kevin said.

Zach was at the Southern Haven Villas study room at one in the middle of the night. He took off his gold-rimmed glass and walked to the window. Then, he pinched the bridge of his nose and said, “Just follow the plan.”

“Yes, Mr. Jardin,” Kevin answered. Zach hung up the phone and walked to his desk to turn off the lamp. When he walked into the bedroom, he saw that Madelyn was asleep. Zach proceeded to walk over quietly and tuck her in. He then took off his jacket and went into the bathroom.

Zach was usually full of energy. First, he would wake up early to go to work and come home in time for dinner with Madelyn. After dinner, he would accompany her for flower arrangements and walks. When Zach was not there, Madelyn would be drawing on her album. He would usually pass the child to Margaret.

After leaving the bathroom, Zach was not rushing to go to bed. The moisture on him had not dried yet. He took the medicine out from the cupboards. He rubbed it over the part of her body that had an allergic reaction. During the night, he would watch whether she rubbed her ointment besides handling company affairs. Thankfully, these marks were not noticeable.

The next day, Madelyn heard some noise while sleeping. A car had driven into the Southern Haven Villas. A blonde man dressed in a suit was conversing with Zach. He was from Elise Boutique, a famous international company making luxury wedding gowns.

The man said, “There are twenty sets of wedding gowns here. I wonder which woman made you book a wedding gown two years prior. Could I have the honor of seeing her face?”

Zach shook his hand and said, “My wife’s still resting.”

“That’s a shame. Then I can only wait until your wedding ceremony,” the blonde man replied.

“I will be in Venturia for some time. Would you be free to have a meal with me?” The blonde man offered.

“Of course,” Zach replied. Then, the servant sent the blonde man away. Zach had been taking time out of schedule to prepare for their wedding.

At the same time, Margaret was in the kitchen preparing brunch. Madelyn was having her meals at later and later times. She used to wake up at eight but could now sleep till twelve. To accommodate her schedule, everyone at the villa also adjusted their schedules. They would wake up and be in time for brunch.

Dalton was sitting on the couch, tearing tissues. Margaret would turn around once in a while to check on him. When she saw Dalton picking up the tissue from the floor and eating it, Margaret clapped her hands and cried, “Oh my!”

She quickly rushed over and said, ” Dalton, the tissues are dirty. You can’t eat them.”

Margaret held onto Dalton and had him spit the tissue out. After that, she wiped his mouth. After Margaret put Dalton down, Margaret saw Madelyn coming downstairs in a nightgown. Zach and Dalton looked over simultaneously and saw she was still not fully awake.

Dalton stood up and ran over clumsily after being put down on the floor. Just as Madelyn got downstairs, Dalton ran to Madelyn and fell right in front of her. Dalton lay at Madelyn’s feet and stunned Madelyn. She bent down and held him up before passing him over to Margaret.

When she saw the row of wedding gowns in the living room, Madelyn pretended not to see them. Even though Zach walked over, she pretended not to see him and walked past him toward the dining table.

The servants have prepared the meals. At Madelyn’s usual seat, there is a bowl of pea soup. Zach sat beside her and said, “If you haven’t rested enough, you can sleep more. There’s no rush. The appointment for the photography shoot is in the afternoon.”

Madelyn did not raise her head. She sniffled before saying, “I have the flu. I don’t want to go.”

“Sure, we’ll go tomorrow,” Zach obliged.

“I don’t think this flu will go away so soon,” Madelyn argued.

“It’s not a problem. I can wait until after the wedding to take pictures, ”

Zach assured her. Madelyn paused and could not help but tell him, “I assumed you knew what I meant.”

“Zach, you’ve always liked to guess people’s thoughts, haven’t you? How could it be possible that you can’t guess my thoughts?” Madelyn asked him.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
