The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 981 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 981

It was a quiet and peaceful night. Without any warning, it started to snow.

Fred held onto a sleeping Mya. After not seeing her for a few days, she had gained a lot of weight. The other women were all slender, while she was as plump as a partridge. Fred had never seen a woman not take care of their figure before.

When Blake drove by, she saw the car plate on Fred’s car. Her eyes widened as she saw the familiar

person in the car.

‘It’s him! What is he doing here?’ She thought. Blake immediately lowered her head and avoided staring at Fred when she thought of how he had used her.

Kevin walked over and called out to Fred, “Mr. Turner.”

Fred glanced at him and asked, “Did he send you?”

Kevin did not answer. Instead, he said, “Mr. Jardin doesn’t plan to interfere with the affairs between the Harper and Turner families. I’ve come to settle a different issue.”

Fred walked past him. He had initially planned to bring Blake with him but chose to let her go. All the bodyguards started to drive off.

Blake hugged herself as the cold wind made her shiver. When she saw Fred, she snorted coldly before immediately leaving. Kevin, on the other hand, was a man of cold efficiency. He opened the door and said to Blake, “Come here. Get in the car.’

Blake retorted, “Tch, who would want to be in your car?”

Kevin’s face immediately turned ugly, and he explained, “According to the latest weather report, there will be a blizzard in two hours. All airports have stopped. It would take five hours for you to walk there. If you don’t want to freeze to death…”

“I…” Blake wanted to say she had a chauffeur, but none was around. Before Kevin could finish talking, Blake dashed into the car. After that, she nodded at Kevin before putting on the seatbelt. She then said, “You’re right, Mr. Harrison. Since you’re trying to be kind, I won’t let you miss out on this chance.”

Kevin proceeded to shut the door. When he turned around, he smiled. As the car started to move, Blake asked, “What’s going to happen to Mya? She was tortured the last time she was there. There would be no mercy for her if she were to return again.”

Kevin turned the steering wheel and turned on the headlights. He told her, “She’ll be fine. You’re the one who’s in trouble. You skipped work without any reason. Do you still want this month’s bonus?”

Blake clutched her seatbelt tightly and argued, “I’ve already sent my resignation notice to your mailbox. I’m preparing to take the Civil Service Exams. Besides, I think this job is not suitable for me.

‘Being bled dry every day is too much. Besides, Zach and Kevin aren’t good people. They’re using me to keep track of Mya while pretending to take care of her. Yet, I foolishly followed their orders. I made Grace worried for so long, and now even Simon is in the hospital due to complications from anger,’ Blake thought. She would not be able to forgive herself if she had to see his face every day at work.

Kevin hesitated before saying, “Alright. According to regular resignation procedures, I will

approve it, but a month’s processing is required for the early resignation. You need to finish all your work by this month.”

Blake interjected, “I can hand the work over to Susan, and then I’m going to leave immediately.”

Kevin furrowed his brows and said, “If you want to resign, you must follow regular procedures. After a month has passed, no one will stop you if you want to leave.”

Blake obliged, “I’ll stay for one more month then.”

However, she feared her last month would be terrible. She imagined that she would be tortured to death by Kevin.

On their journey home, Blake was oddly quiet. While staring at the familiar path, she stared at Kevin in surprise and asked, “How do you know where I live?”

Kevin answered, “You don’t need to know.”

When they arrived at their destination, the Harper residence still had their lights on. Kevin got out of the car and walked quite a distance before Blake could remember she needed to get out. She asked again, “Kevin, how do you know where my house is?”

Kevin locked his car and scolded, “You’re going against your superiors before even resigning?”

Blake thought he was amazing and suspected Kevin had planted a tracker on her. Kevin opened the door and saw some strangers in the house. There was also a doctor in a white coat. The doctor took down his stethoscope when he heard someone come in. He greeted Kevin, “Mr. Harrison.”

Kevin walked over and asked, “What’s the situation?”

The doctor shook his head and said, “We found that besides superficial injuries, the patient’s chest tissue was somewhat hardened, and her heart rate was irregular. According to our

preliminary diagnosis, it seems that she may have breast cancer.”

Blake saw the unconscious person wrapped in bandages and rushed over quickly, “Grace! What happened to my aunt? Wasn’t she fine at home? Why is she hurt?”

‘What happened during the brief time that I was out?’ Blake wondered.

“Who did this?” She finally asked.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
