The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 970

The officers did not listen to Madelyn. None of them cared about her opinion.

Zach was still holding Madelyn. She could only watch as everything was finalized.

The officers handed the marriage license to Zach, “Mr. Jardin, the procedures have been completed. You and Ms. Jent are now legally married. If there are any further questions, you can contact us.”

Madelyn stared at Zach blankly. She did not expect that he could so easily do all these

procedures. The photo of them placed together with the marriage license was also photoshopped.

‘I’d never take pictures with him,’ Madelyn thought. She then said, “Zach Jardin, you’re so despicable! You’re fabricating our relationship.”

Zach responded, “This day would come sooner or later.”

He put away the marriage license and continued, “Isn’t it great? From now on, you’re my lawfully wedded wife.

“Madelyn, you’re finally mine.”

Zach drove Madelyn mad!

He picked a beautiful dress for her to celebrate their new marriage.

He also did a twisted braid for her hair, though he was clumsy. Madelyn looked at Zach in the mirror, who had never done all these things for her before.

Madelyn had only seen him being serious and attentive when dealing with his work. When he dealt with something seriously, the charm he emanated always attracted her.

But this time, Madelyn felt an indescribable feeling. She wondered if he had truly changed.

Zach carefully picked a crystal headband with diamonds and put it on her. The long white dress he chose suited her well.

He was very satisfied with the outcome of his efforts. He smiled as he placed his hands on Madelyn’s shoulders before leaning toward her. She turned her face away to avoid letting him.

touch her.

She asked, “I’m full of rashes now. Aren’t you afraid of getting infected?”

Zach lowered his head to smell her scent. It was obvious that his mood was good. He seemed like a different person after they got married.

There was no proposal or ceremony. But these were not important to him at all. What he wanted was to achieve his goal.

Zach pinched Madelyn’s chin and kissed her, “Why would I mind? After eating, let’s take a family photo with the Dalton.”

He continued, “Madelyn, this is our first holiday together. Happy holiday.”

Madelyn’s heart skipped a beat. Her palms were sweaty.

Zach then brought her downstairs for the meal.

The maids had already prepared a table of dishes. Even Dalton was brought down early. He was wearing a customized one-year-old baby suit. His hair was combed neatly. He was sucking on a milk bottle.

Madelyn was actually carried downstairs. She had just woken up not long ago and was still very weak. That was why she did not have the energy to continue fighting with Zach just now.

The maids were already used to this kind of affectionate scene.

Madelyn looked at the villa’s living room, which was decorated very nicely.

Today was the Jent family’s customary event. Zach took out two gift card envelopes from his pocket and placed them in front of her.

Madelyn did not accept them. But memories suddenly flooded back, which made her lost in her thoughts.

She thought, ‘The first time I received a gift card envelope was four years ago…’

She looked away and said, “I’m not a child anymore.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
