The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 969

Margaret was about to tidy up another room. When she heard the noise, she quickly went to the master bedroom. She was startled when she saw the scene. She hurriedly carried Dalton to the baby room beside the master bedroom to put him down.

She came back and said, “Mr. Jardin, what you’re doing won’t do. We need to use cold water to wipe Ms. Jent’s body.”

“Go get some water now.” Zach did not want to let go of Madelyn.

Margaret then went to fetch a basin of cold water.

The cream could relieve itching. Soon enough, Madelyn did not feel itchy anymore. However, the wounds from the scratching began to hurt.

She said, “Don’t think I’ll be grateful to you because of this incident.”

Zach lowered her head as he carefully treated her wounds with a cotton swab, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have lost my temper with you.”

Madelyn thought she heard him wrongly. She could not believe the usually arrogant Zach actually apologized to her.

Zach was prideful. To him, everything he did was right, even if it was wrong. But this time, he actually apologized to Madelyn.

Margaret was holding the basin as she glanced at them before quickly leaving the room.

Madelyn immediately grabbed the blanket. She became stiff suddenly. She had waited for two lifetimes to hear an apology from him.

Her eyes turned red slightly when she thought about the past. She forcefully pulled her hand,” Some things can’t be solved with just an apology. I know you want me to learn from this incident that leaving without your protection makes me useless and incapable of doing anything.

“But even though I ended up like this, I don’t regret it. I don’t want to be confined by you here. I don’t love you; do you understand?

“Can’t you go and find Cecilia and make her your wife? I’m useless. I can’t do anything besides painting! I just want to leave and have my own

life!

“That day… You were fine being with Cecilia. You can live without me. A-As long as I

disappear for a long time, you’ll surely forget me.

Madelyn’s voice was filled with intense emotions. It made Zach avoid eye contact.

He gently stroked the back of her head as he leaned close to her to press against her forehead.

He responded, “Cecilia will never be my wife. The title of Mrs. Jardin belongs only to you. It’s okay if you don’t accept it now. But I’ll make you slowly accept it one day.”

Madelyn replied, “I don’t want to!”

Zach said, “Madelyn, after escaping this time, it’s time to behave. From now on, fulfill your duty as my wife.”

His voice was relaxing and gentle. But to Madelyn, it sounded like a nightmare.

A maid outside knocked on the door and said, “Mr. and Mrs. Jardin, the people are here.”

After Zach let go of Madelyn, there were still tears in the corners of her eyes.

Zach’s voice turned cold instantly, “Let them in.”

A man and a woman in black and white suits held briefcases as they walked in. They looked like some officers. They were wearing name tags on their chests.

The woman, who was approximately in her forties, said, “Mr. Jardin, we need the identity documents of both parties for the marriage procedures. Then, some personal information needs to be filled out. The procedure will take around ten minutes.”

Madelyn stared at Zach in disbelief and asked, “What marriage procedures? Zach Jardin, what are you trying to do?”

In Venturia, it was customary for couples to appear in person at the Clerk of Court to sign their marriage license. However, Zach leveraged his influence to arrange for officers to visit the Jent residence, facilitating the process at his convenience..

Zach took all the prepared documents from the bedside table and handed them to the officers. After the officers received the documents, they opened their computers and entered Zach’s and Madelyn’s information.

Madelyn said, “I don’t want to marry him! Stop it! You two aren’t allowed to help him. Stop it!

Madelyn tried to move forward to stop them, but Zach hugged her and said, “Don’t worry about it. You two may continue.”

Madelyn said, “Zach Jardin! You jerk! Without my consent… I won’t allow you all to do this!”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
