The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 971

Dalton tugged on Madelyn’s sleeve, drawing her attention to him. He had finished his milk and was waving the bottle, indicating he wanted more. Madelyn glanced emotionlessly at Margaret.

Margaret noticed Madelyn’s glance and quickly came over to take Dalton. However, Zach spoke up, “I’ll take him.”

Margaret hesitated briefly before handing Dalton over to Zach. The usually restless Dalton sat quietly on Zach’s lap, content with some snacks given by Margaret to nibble on.

“Let’s eat,” Zach announced, cradling Dalton in one arm while serving fish onto Madelyn’s plate with his other hand.

Zach did not force Madelyn to accept the gift she was reluctant to take. Instead, he pushed it toward her and said, “You can open it later and take a look. Consider it my wedding gift to you.

Madelyn did not acknowledge the gesture, maintaining her silence throughout the meal. After they finished, the photographer for the family portrait arrived. At that moment, Madelyn’s face was preoccupied with red spots.

“Why does it have to be today? Can’t we reschedule?” Madelyn asked.

Zach removed Madelyn’s hand from her face and said, “Nowadays, we have technology to remove those red spots from your face. It’ll only take a few minutes. After the photoshoot, we can go get your medicine.”

Madelyn kept her distance from Zach and said, “Let’s just get it over with. I’m feeling dizzy.”

The photographer had already set up the backdrop. After the makeup artist gave her a brief touch-up, Madelyn sat, ready for the photo shoot. The photographer, sensing the tense atmosphere, hurried the process.

Only a few photos were taken before it was over. The photographer handed the finished product to Madelyn and said, “Mrs. Jardin, What do you think of them?”

However, Madelyn hardly glanced at it. She suddenly felt nauseous and rushed to the bathroom to vomit.

Zach followed Madelyn to the bathroom on the first floor. He opened the door and found her crouched beside the toilet, violently throwing up the soup she had just consumed. Zach looked on with concern. He helped lift her long hair and gently rubbed her back. He asked, “If you’re feeling unwell, why force yourself and keep quiet about it?”

but you didn’t care.”

Madelyn breathed heavily and replied tearfully, “I told you,

Zach’s touch on Madelyn’s back stiffened. He flushed the toilet and helped her stand. Madelyn, feeling weak, pushed him away and said, “Since the photoshoot is over, I’m going to rest now.

Madelyn stumbled out of the bathroom, supported by Margaret. Just then, the makeup artist, with a smile on her face, congratulated Madelyn, “Congratulations, Mrs. Jardin!”

Confused, Madelyn asked, “What for?”

Margaret quickly signaled to the makeup artist to be quiet. The makeup artist noticed Margaret’s signal and covered up, “I heard today is your wedding day. So, I came to

congratulate you.”

“There’s nothing to congratulate,” Madelyn responded before heading to her room, visibly unwell.

Margaret sighed in relief, glad that the makeup artist did not mention the word “pregnant.” If Zach had heard, the consequences could have been dire.

Madelyn felt unwell, her stomach churning painfully. Margaret covered Madelyn with a blanket and said, “I’ll get you some soup.”

“No, bring me some grilled food,” Madelyn requested weakly.

“Grilled food? You can’t eat that now; it’s too greasy! Mr. Jardin would be furious if he found out.”

Madelyn looked like a fragile beauty who would easily be swept away by the wind. She had a feeling that the year was going to be anything but peaceful.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
