The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 968

Madelyn lifted her head from his arm to look at his face. It was the first time in a very long time that she had seen him in such a disheveled state. He even had stubble on his chin. However, this did not diminish his handsomeness. Instead, it added a unique charm to his mature appearance.

Then, she noticed the wound on his neck. She just stared at it expressionlessly.

After staring for some time, Zach moved his body. It seemed like he had woken up. He took a deep breath before reaching out to touch her forehead with his eyes closed to feel her temperature.

“It’s still early. Go back to sleep.” Zach’s voice was low, husky, and pleasant. He then adjusted his position. He held her hand and placed it around his waist. He then embraced her tightly as he caressed her long hair. Madelyn did not say a word. She just allowed him to hug her.

At that moment, the master bedroom door was slightly pushed open. Dalton crawled on the floor. He lifted his head to look at them. His eyes were big, and he grinned with teeth that were not fully grown.

Dalton crawled to the bedside. He grabbed the bed sheet, and with a little push of his legs, he climbed onto the bed.

Madelyn could feel something above the blanket pressing against her legs. Zach looked up to glance at Dalton. Dalton then suddenly let out an excited “ah” before pouncing into the middle of Zach and Madelyn.

He did not look at Zach at all. He just kissed Madelyn on her face with his big mouth full of saliva. It made her face covered in drool.

“Ah… Ma… Mama…”

Madelyn weakly sat up. She did not feel sleepy anymore after being disturbed by Dalton. She lifted the blanket and got out of bed. She then went to the bathroom. As soon as she saw her face in the mirror, she was horrified and screamed, “Ah! My face!”

Zach quickly ran into the bathroom and hugged Madelyn, who was trembling. He comforted her, “It’s okay. You’ll get better soon. Just take the medicine, and you’ll be fine. Don’t look at it. It’s not ugly at all.”

Madelyn’s voice was filled with a sob, ” What happened to me?”

Zach responded, “It’s an allergy reaction to the new environment. Take the medicine for two days and you’ll be fine. It might itch a little, but don’t scratch it.”

As soon as Zach mentioned it, Madelyn suddenly felt an unbearable itching sensation all over her body. Dalton used a lot of effort to get down from the bed by himself. He stood up from the floor unsteadily. After taking a few steps, he went back to crawling.

Zach did not have time for Dalton. He carried Madelyn onto the bed before using one hand to hold her hands to stop her from scratching, “Madelyn, look at me!”

Madelyn felt uncomfortable as she moved her body. She was trying to alleviate the itching by rubbing against her clothes. Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at him.

Zach said, “Bear with it for a while. I’ll go get your medicine. No scratching, okay?”

Madelyn nodded. Zach then left to take the cream from a maid. When he returned to the room, he saw scratch marks from Madelyn’s nails on her hands, arms, and neck. Some spots were even bleeding.

Zach had to use a belt to tie her hands. Madelyn said, “Zach Jardin, what are you doing? Let go of me! I’m itching. I feel so itchy!

“Please let me go! Release me!”

Madelyn did not cry when she was abducted and assaulted. But she was crying uncontrollably now.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
