The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 967

Two days later, at Southern Haven Villas, Kevin reported the progress to Zach, “We found out that the people who kidnapped Ms. Jent were human traffickers. Their organization was huge. But now, they’ve all been completely captured by the police. Regarding the person whom Ms. Jent hurt, our legal department is defending her.

“Also, the medical report from the hospital showed that there was ether inside Ms. Jent’s body. She must’ve been drugged.”

Zach was hugging Madelyn, who was still unconscious. He let her lean on his body while he measured her body temperature. He responded, “Tell them that everyone involved in this matter should not be spared.”

Kevin nodded, “Okay.”

He thought, ‘After the court passes judgment, those people will probably end up either dead or disabled when they’re in prison.”

After Kevin left, Kai arrived at the scheduled time.

He prescribed some allergy medication for Madelyn, “The weather is freezing. And with the shock she experienced, she’ll definitely get sick. Her sprained foot isn’t serious. After applying the cream for three to five days, the allergy rash on her body should be gone. You must take good care of her these few days. And you should also think about how to explain things to her when she wakes up.”

Kai thought, ‘It’s very fortunate that she’s okay.’

He noticed Zach was paying all his attention to Madelyn. He believed Zach would not pay attention to him even if he continued to speak, so he kept silent.

Kai then left with his medical kit. Lana, who was worried and standing outside the door, looked into the room. When she saw that Kai looked uneasy when he came out, she subconsciously grabbed his arm, “Kai, if she’s really sick, you should stay here and take care of her! She looks very sick.”

Kai helped her down the stairs and said softly, “Everything will be fine. She’s just having a slight fever. She’ll get better soon.”

He pondered, ‘Even if I stayed here, Madelyn would only feel more uncomfortable when she sees me.

‘Rather than doing that, I should keep a safe distance from her and only appear when she needs me.’

A servant placed Kai’s medical kit in the trunk. He held an umbrella to shelter Lana. She smiled faintly, and her eyes were filled with happiness. However, when she looked at him from the side, there was a momentary flash of a face that seemed familiar, but she had never seen it before.

In that brief moment, she felt a pain in her chest, which made her very sad. But in a few seconds, the illusionary face quickly disappeared.

She suppressed her emotions. Kai noticed she looked strange. So, he asked, “What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?”

Lana responded, “I-It’s nothing!”

The two of them then got into the car and left. In the bedroom upstairs, Madelyn did not even know she had a high fever. She slept for two days because of this sickness. The evening passed quietly; they did not even have their family dinner.

Zach sat by the bedside. He held her hand and played with her long hair near the ear with his other hand, You’ll be fine. I’ll wait for you to wake up. You’ve come through the hardest part. You’ll be fine this time.”

Margaret brought a water basin, “Mr. Jardin, you should rest. You’re still sick. The bandage wrapped around Zach’s neck had already been removed. His wound had gradually healed, but it would leave an indelible scar.

With Zach’s care, Madelyn’s fever had subsided on the second day. The rashes on her body had also faded a lot.

When she woke up, she saw Zach sleeping next to her. He was holding her hands and pressing against her body. His body felt very hot.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
