The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 966

The manager thought, ‘Of all the people that those from Southgate City could bring here, they kidnapped the wife of the CEO of Jardin Corporation. Now, anyone who’s related to this incident can’t escape.’

To make amends for his actions, the manager quickly said, “Mr. Jardin, if I knew the location of your wife, could you give me a chance?!”

It was extremely cold when the large snowflakes fell on Madelyn’s exposed body.

She was so disheveled, as if she was a madwoman. There were injuries on her body. Everyone avoided her when she was walking on the bustling street. People were carrying their bags, rushing home for the holiday.

Then, the big screen on the street played a host wishing everybody a happy holiday and live performances by celebrities.

The cold wind blew at Madelyn. Her eyes and nose felt a little sour. She had no money with her now because everything had been taken away.

She did not know where to go. She no longer had a home. When Madelyn escaped, she took the pedestrian walkway and accidentally twisted her foot when she walked downstairs. She was now walking with a limp.

At this moment, Madelyn felt very helpless and miserable. Then, she vaguely saw a man in a black coat, who was tall and familiar, walking toward her from across the street. He was at a distance, so she could not see his face clearly.

Just when she felt so exhausted and was about to faint, she felt a pair of strong hands supporting her. Soon, she fell into a warm embrace. She could feel the warmth of that person’s body.

She said, “S-So cold.”

The man responded, “Everything is fine now. Soon, you won’t feel cold anymore.”

He then draped Madelyn with his heavy coat and wrapped her up tightly. Before she went unconscious, Madelyn still could not see the man’s face clearly, only that he was trembling.

Zach held her tightly. He was afraid that she might leave him again. Inside a black car not far away, Fred looked interested as he watched the scene.

“Zach! I never expected that I’d see you fall for a woman in my entire life.”

Compared to the indecisive Zach now, Fred preferred the Zach back then.

“Mr. Turner, we’ve located Ms. Harper. She’s currently in Werenzo. This is her latest video.”

It was not difficult for Fred to find the Harper’s family’s whereabouts.

Fred looked at the tablet. Mya wore a red furry coat and white earmuffs covering her ears. Her delicate face could be seen clearly. She was holding a small snowman, smiling at the camera.

He clicked open the video and heard Mya’s soft voice, “Happy holiday!” Her clear eyes curved up when she said that.

Fred thought, ‘I’ve never played with a woman I’ve abandoned twice. No, to be precise, she’s just my pet. After all, I’ve spent a lot of time with her. Even if it was just a dog, I’d still develop feelings.

‘Moreover, I like her again now.’

He caressed the image of Mya in the video, “Let’s go to Werenzo.”

Fred thought again, ‘I’m going to bring back my pet that has run away.’

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
