The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 956

Kai helped him dress the wound and apply the medication. After giving Zach his IV drop and seeing Zach’s body temperature drop, it was already eleven at night.

Lana was staying in the room reserved for family members of doctors. She had ordered supper and brought some over. Then, she asked Kai, “Is he okay?”

Kai put down the magazine and rubbed his temples before saying, “He’s much better now. He might wake up later. I’ll have to look after him just in case he goes crazy. You should go and rest since it’s already so late.”

Lana grabbed a stool, but Kai swiftly snatched it and placed it beside him. She sat and said, “I’ll keep you company for a while. I’ll leave when he wakes up.”

Kai smiled faintly and held her hand over his lap, “Then you can keep me company for half an hour.”

Lana nodded her head and agreed, Sure.”

After Kevin had finished handling some affairs, he went to Floral Loft. He found out that Mya was missing, and so was Blake. As he drove to SereneCare Hospital, Kevin called Blake many times. After hanging up his last call, his expression turned ugly.

He learned about the situation at Southern Haven Villas and discovered Madelyn was not in the villa. According to the servants, she never came back after leaving in a rush in a chauffeur’s personal car. The car’s indicator showed that it had stopped at Marisburg. It seemed Madelyn had run away again.

Kevin immediately went to Marisburg to report to the police and survey the situation. If they found any signs of Madelyn, the police would immediately take her to the police station. The decision about how to deal with her will have to wait until Zach wakes up. If Madelyn successfully leaves the country, Kevin will be the first to be chewed out by Zach.

The only odd thing was that even though the people at Marisburg strengthened their patrols for every pathway, it still yielded no results even after five hours.

‘Could it be that Madelyn hasn’t left at all?’ Kevin racked his brain and still could not figure out which destination Madelyn chose.

When Kevin arrived at the hospital, it was already past one in the morning. Zach had just woken up from his coma. He wore a blue-white striped hospital gown and was sitting on the sick bed with a pale face. Only Kai was by his side. Kevin had never seen Zach so disheveled before.

Kevin called out, “Mr. Jardin!”

Zach put his fist before his mouth and coughed. His first words were,

“Where is she?”

Kevin already knew who Zach meant. Kevin pursed his lips and reported, Ms. Jent has already left ventropolis. Before she left, she visited the Floral Loft. She must’ve already found Ms. Harper.”

Zach stared at him coldly and asked, ” How did she know of Mya’s location?”

Kevin lowered his head and apologized, “I apologize, Mr. Jardin. It was my mistake. Ms. Jent took advantage of your coma and used your phone to send me a message asking for Ms. Harper’s location. I didn’t think much about it, so I sent her the location. When I was investigating the Harper family’s situation, it turned out the Harper family had left ventropolis.

At the same time, Mr. Harper was being transferred to another hospital. I couldn’t find their whereabouts for now. However, I later discovered that Ms. Jent was located at Marisburg. I asked Ms. Jent’s chauffeur and found out that Ms. Jent had purposely told him to go and pick someone up at the station. Using this opportunity, Ms. Jent left Ventropolis. I’ve already sent people to every station to search for her. If Ms. Jent were to leave, they would find her and bring her back.”

Zach closed his eyes while his fingers spun the ring on his finger. After a long while, he uttered a sentence, “Two days. If you can’t find her, don’t even dream of continuing to work at Jardin Corporation!”

Kai poured a cup of hot water and placed it on the table. He then spoke, ” Madelyn likes freedom and hates being restrained. In addition to your obsessive control over her, it was almost certain that she would leave. As for the reason behind her leaving, it is on you and not to be blamed on Kevin. Kevin has worked for you for so many years. If you truly did fire him, how will you get someone who will work for you as hard as he does?”

Kai glanced at Kevin, who was tense, and said, “Take a seat. Standing around won’t solve any problems.”

Kevin did not move. Kai knew they were both similar in temperament. Kevin was just like Zach since it was Zach who trained him.

Kai continued, “Zach, you should really think about it. Where did the issue between you and Madelyn come from?

Why did she leave? She didn’t even bother caring for you when you were sick. She didn’t even tell the servants. Do you know how serious your condition was? If you were found even half an hour later, you wouldn’t have survived. If you had been in a car accident, I believe Madelyn would have left you without a second thought. We all owe her an apology, so I’m doing everything possible to make it up to her. But you… you really shouldn’t be using other women to provoke her.”

“Even though I know you don’t have any relations with Cecilia, what about Madelyn? She wouldn’t think that at all. The more you have rumors of other women around you, the farther she’ll stay away,” Kai advised.

Zach glared at Kevin and bellowed, ” Why are you here? Go find her for me.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
