The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 955

Madelyn sat in the backseat to take a nap. She woke up when the car hit a bump and saw completely unfamiliar surroundings. She asked, “Where are we now, mister?”

“This is Southgate City. We’re almost at Martinsburg. It’ll take around 40 minutes,” The taxi driver answered.

Madelyn requested, “Drop me off here.”

The taxi driver was shocked, “Don’t you want to reach Marisburg? You’ve already paid for the fare, and I won’t be returning it.”

Madelyn replied, “Mhm, that’s fine.”

The taxi driver was pleased and left her at a busy market. By the time Zach wakes up, he would definitely assume she was at Marisburg. Madelyn needed to stay and hide here for a while before returning when the coast was clear. After Madelyn got out of the taxi, she went to a motel that did not require any identification for a room.

“Young lady, it seems you’ve come to Southgate City alone to look for a job. If you want a job, I can introduce you to it. As long as you work hard, five or six thousand a month should be no problem,” the motel owner suggested.

Madelyn did not answer her. After she got the room card, she went upstairs. She then locked all the doors and windows before barring the door.

The weather near the southern area was humid, so the room smelled moldy. Since it was a cheap motel, Madelyn could only make do with the place for a night until she could find another house to stay in. She had taken out all the money from her bank account, which was ten thousand dollars. It was quite a large sum during the year 2006.

The sky had already turned dark, and Madelyn hoped Zach would wake up a little later. It would be best if he did not wake up at all.

However, Kevin had noticed something unusual during the second hour Madelyn had left. He called numerous times, but Zach had not accepted his calls. Zach even sent him messages even though he usually never did so.

At half past five, Kevin immediately called the Southern Haven Villas. When the servants arrived at the bedroom to check on Zach, they found out he was in a coma. They instantly called the emergency line. After that, Zach was carried by the paramedics into an ambulance, and they rushed to SereneCare Hospital.

Kai had a mask on while a nurse followed behind while reporting, “The patient’s neck was bleeding and seemed to be injured by a sharp object. The injury is infected, and he’s currently unconscious.”

Kai asked, “How’s his current condition? Heart rate, breathing, and pulse?”

The nurse answered, “His heart rate is low, and his pulse is weak. If he was discovered a few hours later, he might not have made it.”

Kai’s gaze darkened as he thought, ‘It used to be just tiny arguments, yet they’ve currently escalated to using knives.’

Thankfully, Zach was the one being sent here and not Madelyn. Had it been Madelyn, Kai would have made Zach suffer the consequences.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
