The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 954

Blake cautiously went to the door and peeked through the cat’s eye. She was surprised to see that person outside the door. She opened the door and asked, ” Madelyn, what brought you here?”

“Hm? Madelyn? Is Madelyn here?”

Mya’s eyes instantly lit up. She did not even bother finishing the snacks in her hands as she hastily put on her shoe and went outside. She hugged Madelyn and said, “Madelyn, I missed you so much. What took you so long to come here?”

Madelyn was a little out of breath from the hug. “Mya, when did you start living here?”

“I forgot, Madelyn, come inside with me!” Mya dragged Madelyn into the house, but Madelyn refused to move.

“It’s fine. I’m here to tell you something. Mya, you’ve got to go home now. Your mom and dad are…” Madelyn hesitated and stopped talking.

‘Mya is lucky to be alive. Judging by how she looks, she probably doesn’t know that she has been deceived by Fred.’ Madelyn thought to herself.

“What’s with Mom and Dad? Are they angry because I spent too much time playing in Fred’s house? But he has already told Mom and Dad that I went to his house. They shouldn’t be worried about me,” Mya said.

Madelyn looked at Mya strangely. Then, she recollected herself and said, ” Mya, didn’t I tell you not to talk to anyone no matter who they are? If you see him again, make sure you stay far away from him, okay?”

Blake immediately got restless as she raised her voice, saying, “What? Fred?

Was he the one who abducted Mya? Why did Mr. Jardin take her here then? Wasn’t it to take care of her sickness?”

Madelyn frowned and looked at Blake. ‘ It seems like things are more complicated than I imagine.’

Then, she looked at her watch and said, “Mya, can you get me a glass of water?”

“Oh, sure. I’ll be right back.”

“I’d like a warm one. I can’t drink cold water.”

“Don’t worry, I got it.” Mya nodded firmly.

After Mya walked away, Madelyn told Blake about everything. “There’s not enough time, so I’ll cut it short. I still can’t figure out why Fred would want to go after Mya. However, Mrs. Harper came to talk to me before and told me that Mya was taken away by Fred from their house in the middle of the night.”

“What? H-he’s lawless. How could she break into their house and take Mya away just like that? He’s outrageous!” Blake rolled up her sleeves angrily, looking like she was ready to fight Fred.

Madelyn continued, “As for why Mya was brought here, I don’t know. However, I came to tell you to quickly take Mya out of Ventropolis. It would be best if you can take her parents with you too. This place isn’t safe anymore. Zach only put Mya here to threaten me. He’s hurt and unconscious now, and that’s the only reason why I could come here. Zach might not harm Mya, but I can’t say the same about Fred. He’s an extremely dangerous man, and I can’t imagine what he would do to Mya.

“Time’s running out. I’ve got to go!” “Madelyn!” Blake stopped her from leaving.

“What’s wrong?” Madelyn turned around. Blake pursed her lips and shook her head, saying, “Nothing. Take care of yourself.”

Madelyn smiled. “Sure.”

Blake looked at Madelyn’s receding back and thought to herself. ‘Sigh. I guess it’s best not to tell Madelyn that Mya is pregnant. It’s only going to worry her more. Madelyn has already done enough for us.’

George’s car was parked right downstairs. However, Madelyn did not get into the car. If she had guessed correctly, Zach must have installed a tracking device on this car, even on the phone. So, she did not bring anything when she left the mansion, only some important documentation, clothes, and some cash.

She told George to drive to Marisburg’s train station to pick up someone who did not exist. Fortunately, George did not think too much of it and did as she said.

Meanwhile, Madelyn got into a cab and took an alternative route to Marisburg. She was afraid that other people would recognize her, so she wore a mask.

She returned to Marisburg because there was someone waiting for her.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
