The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 830

Serena blinked her innocent eyes, momentarily taken aback, “Me? Is something the matter?”

Kevin responded, “You’ll find out soon enough, Ms. Smith.”

Within a short span of twenty minutes inside the private lounge, a complete dossier on Serena was delivered to Zach. As Serena entered the lounge, she found a man in a tailored black suit, oozing an alluring but restrained aura, engrossed in some documents. She did not know where to rest her gaze, so she tried to act natural. Flicking her long hair behind her ear, she asked, “Mr. Jardin, I heard you wanted to see me?”

Zach retrieved a photo from the pile of papers and tossed it in front of Serena. As the photo drifted down, he commented, “Nice work on your face.”

Serena’s smile instantly froze on her face, “H-how did you get a photo of me from before?”

‘I had made sure those pictures were destroyed.’ Serena thought. Staring at her past self in the picture, she felt as if a bomb had gone off in her head, yet she forcefully subdued the rising panic.

“No matter what you do, you’ll never be her. Clear this up with the media within three days,” Zach said coldly, dropping the folder he had been going through. “If I don’t see what I want, I won’t hesitate to take matters into my own hands.” He walked over to her, his eyes piercingly cold and his tone venomous, “I don’t want to see this face a second time.”

As Zach exited the lounge, a suppressed roar of anger erupted behind him. Serena could not contain herself any longer, “What right do you have to interfere with my life? Even if I altered my face to look like Madelyn, that’s my business. Do you think you’re all that, just because of your current position?

“Didn’t you also rise to power through a woman? You’re nothing more than a lapdog of the Jent family. My father is the Secretary of Education. Even the Arnold family had to give him some face. You’re just a nobody with no background to speak of.”

Kevin thought, ‘This woman has a death wish, speaking like that.’

The Serena in the past would never dare speak like that. Back then, she was meek, insecure, and overlooked by everyone. But she had transformed. She was not about to let anyone look down on her. No one had that right.

“Not only will I keep this face, but I’m also Madelyn Smith from now on!”

No matter how much Serena ranted, Zach did not turn back. Her cries sounded like the facade of a princess being ripped apart, exposing an ugly doll underneath. She thought, ‘This isn’t me. Not like this.’

In a fit of madness, Serena tore up the file in her hands. If this had happened earlier, she would never have made it out of the room alive. But Zach had mellowed down.

Silently exiting the party, all eyes were on Zach, but no one dared to comment. He got into his car and headed straight for the hospital. His first act upon arrival was to confide in Madelyn, “I won’t let anyone replace you.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
