The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 831

Kevin was taken aback by the transformation in Zach since the accident that befell Madelyn.

Two hours later, Kevin walked into Madelyn’s room with a file bag in hand and said, “Sir, I’ve brought everything you requested.”

Zach, after carefully wiping Madelyn’s hands, covered them with a blanket. He said, “From now on, take charge of the company matters. Don’t come to me with every little thing-only the major contracts needing my signature. You’ve been with me long enough; you know what to do.”

Kevin eyed Zach, his disbelief clear. You’re walking away from everything? You built it all from nothing.” His gaze shifted to Madelyn, still and silent on the bed. “Is this permanent? What if she doesn’t wake up?”

“I owe her that much.” Zach’s voice was gentle, his touch tender on Madelyn’s face. “Now, go. Don’t disturb her rest any further.”

Kevin nodded after a pause. Understood, sir.” He couldn’t help but think, ‘Mr. Jardin’s lost it.’

True to his word, Zach left his empire behind, dedicating himself to Madelyn’s side. Ever since someone had sabotaged her IV with poison, he hadn’t left her. He was a constant presence, vigilant and unwavering.

Madelyn might be in a vegetative state, Kai informed Zach that her brain activity suggested she was somewhat aware. They hoped the right external stimuli might coax her back to consciousness.

By her side the next day, Zach played her favorite piano melodies, the music filling the room with memories. Amidst the soft tunes, while slicing an apple, he was interrupted by a bodyguard.

“Sir, a girl named Mya is here to see Ms. Jent.”

Zach answered without hesitation, “No.

The bodyguard turned to leave, but Zach called out, “Wait.”

“Anything else, sir?”

“Ensure the fifteenth floor remains off- limits,” Zach commanded, his gaze sharp and unwavering.

“Understood, sir,” the bodyguard confirmed before exiting. Zach’s mind raced with anger. ‘How dare she come here! I’d refrained from acting against her only for Madelyn’s sake.’

Zach had kept Ethan’s death a secret for so long. It infuriated him that Madelyn had disappeared and, by some means, found the precise location of Ethan’s demise right after they returned from the Harper family’s party. All this chaos erupted just as he was about to start a new chapter with her.

Zach suppressed his seething anger. With a swift motion, he skewered the apple with a knife and flung it into the bin, his expression cold as stone.

Outside, Mya and Kennedy were barred from entering. When the bodyguard reemerged, Mya approached with teary eyes. “So? Can I go in and see her now?”

“The fifteenth floor is off-limits by Mr. Jardin’s orders. You must leave,” the bodyguard stated firmly.

Mya’s tears spilled over as she begged, ” Just a moment with her, that’s all I ask. I won’t be a bother again.”

“No means no. If you don’t leave, we won’t be responsible for what happens next,” the bodyguard warned. Kennedy sighed, “Let’s go.”

Despite her daily attempts since learning of Madelyn’s plight, Zach’s resolve remained; he wouldn’t allow Mya to visit Madelyn.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
