The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 816

The ward was a mess. There were shattered objects on the floor, which Madelyn caused. There was even a pool of blood on the floor, which the nurses were cleaning.

Madelyn was somewhat conscious. Her hospital gown was stained with blood, and she appeared extremely weak. Zach thought, ‘I’d only been away for a short while. How did she become like this?’

Zach felt a pain in his heart that he had never experienced.

Madelyn’s breathing was rapid. She struggled and managed to free her hands, “I said I don’t want the surgery. Let go of me!” The nurses were holding her hands down.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Zach approaching from the door. She coldly said, “You get out. I don’t want to see you.”

Zach stood by the bedside. His emotions were unclear as he said, ” Listen to the doctor and have the surgery.”

Madelyn looked at him and sneered, ” Then, I’ll curse myself so I won’t make out from the operating table alive.”

She saw a hint of pain flash past Zach’s eyes. She thought, ‘Is he sad because I’m about to die?”

Madelyn found it ironic. She never believed Zach was a person with emotions. He responded, “Don’t say such things from now on. You’ll get better.”

Madelyn replied, “Are you saying this to comfort me or yourself? Nobody knows my body better than I do…

“Zach Jardin, if I die one day, I’ll curse you… Everyone who loves you will leave, one by one…

“And you’ll end up living a lonely life and die alone.” Madelyn did not manage to say this next sentence because the sedative took effect, and she was unconscious. When everyone heard what she said, no one said a word.

“Everything is ready,” said the nurse who had arrived, handing over the tools to cut off Madelyn’s hair to the head nurse beside her.

The head nurse nervously approached Zach and said, “Mr. Jardin, before the surgery, we need to shave Ms. Jent’s hair and draw blood through her skull. If we don’t shave it, we can’t perform the surgery.”

Now, Zach could only do what he wanted when Madelyn was asleep. He responded, “I’ll do it. You all can leave.”

The head nurse hesitated but eventually agreed, “Okay. But please keep it within fifteen minutes.

Zach had been staring unwaveringly at Madelyn’s face the whole time. After everyone left the ward, they closed the door to give them the private space.

“I’ll make sure you live well.” Zach picked up the scissors…

Whether it was Madelyn’s hair or her entire body, she was exquisitely attractive in every aspect. Her hair was still carrying the fragrance of shampoo. When Madelyn was unconscious, it was Zach who cleaned her.

He knew she liked cleanliness. However, when she was in a bad mood or when she had depressive episodes, she would make a mess of herself and let herself go…

Twelve minutes later, the floor was covered in Madelyn’s long hair, which she had maintained for many years. Now, all of it had been cut off. He carried her as he walked out of the ward. He felt she was almost weightless.

The nurses outside the ward had already got the gurney ready. Zach gently placed her down and asked, ” How long will the surgery take?”

“It may take at least two to three hours…” The head nurse did not dare to speak too definitively. Everyone knew Madelyn’s condition well. She could only say some words of comfort, “Mr. Jardin, don’t worry. Ms. Jent will be blessed with a positive outcome.”

Zach watched as Madelyn was wheeled into the operating room….

At that moment, Kevin stepped out of the elevator. He reported behind Zach, Mr. Jardin, Ms. Samford has been taken away.”

Zach asked, “By who?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
