The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 751

It could be considered as a long- awaited family dinner. However, time had passed, and nothing was the same as it used to be.

Madelyn recollected herself and came downstairs. She had just washed her face, and there were still water droplets in her tied-up hair. Zach shifted his gaze toward her, and Madelyn noticed it.

There was an empty seat between Zach and Yvonne. ‘Is that seat meant for me? Madelyn wondered to herself. Madelyn lowered her gaze, “I’m sorry for keeping you guys waiting.”

She avoided Zach’s piercing gaze that was impossible to ignore. She hesitated for a moment but eventually took a seat next to Jasmine.

“Come over here!” Zach’s gaze instantly turned cold, and his chilly aura felt extremely hostile. Even though Hayson was still alive, Zach had completely taken over the Jent family.

Madelyn kept her head down, saying, ” This is where I always used to sit. It’s not right for me to sit between you and my sister-in-law.”

The word “sister-in-law” immediately made Zach’s expression ugly as his deep, dark eyes flashed with a cold glint.

“No one eats if you don’t come over. I’m not going to repeat myself!” Zach’s tone sounded extremely cold. Yvonne would never dare to make Zach angry like this.

She was supposed to be his legitimate wife, yet… she felt like an outsider upon watching their interactions.

Madelyn raised her head and looked at Hayson, who was seated next to Jasmine. She did not know if her father could hear their conversation. However, she figured that if Hayson was healthy, he would never allow her to be with someone like Zach.

Suddenly, Madelyn remembered the day she told Hayson that she had fallen for Zach.

For no apparent reason, Hayson locked her in the study and gave her a brutal beating while Zach watched from the side without doing anything to intervene. Madelyn had ended up spending over half a month in the hospital bed afterward.

However, it was never enough to make her give up on Zach. Instead, it had only made her want him more and more…

Whenever Hayson saw Madelyn and Zach getting too intimate with each other, he would use the whip on her without any hesitation. But Hayson could not speak now. Still, his eyes were fixed on her as if he had something to say…

Madelyn clenched her fists tight under the table, “Zach… would you please not embarrass me like this in front of my father?”

She was not exactly begging Zach, but he understood it as he looked at her. Hayson had nearly beaten Madelyn to death after she recklessly told Hayson that she was going to marry Zach. It was only then that Madelyn kept her distance from Zach in public.

However, there was a fig leaf between them; no one would ever find out about their sordid relationship if they were careful enough.

“Mommy, this man is so fierce! He’s not letting me eat!” Samantha sat on Jasmine’s leg as she timidly complained.

“Sammy, Mommy told you not to talk while eating,” Jasmine broke the silence. She continued. “Madelyn, we rarely get to eat together as a family, so let’s make it a happy one. Besides, your father is sitting right here!

“Some things are better to be kept private…”

‘Is Jasmine saying I should keep the fight between me and Zach to ourselves?’

Madelyn could tell that Jasmine was being sarcastic toward her. So, she picked up her knife and fork, still unwilling to give in, “I don’t need you to remind me that.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
