The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 752 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 752

That was Madelyn’s first time talking back to Jasmine.

“Crack!” Suddenly, a resounding crack came from the kitchen. The maid, busy working in the kitchen, trembled and dropped a bowl to the ground upon hearing what Madelyn said.

It was bizarre. One of them was someone with whom Zach had an ambiguous relationship; the other was his current wife. Madelyn had become one of the many women in Zach’s life.

Madelyn’s face was pale as she coughed a few times. She looked weak and drained. She had just returned from the hospital, so Zach did not force her. Instead, he lovingly served her a bowl of creamy potato soup and had the maid bring it to her.

“Your body is still recovering. It’s better for you to eat something light for now.”

“Thank you.” Madelyn took a bite of the grilled zucchini but did not notice the chili flakes on top. As soon as she chewed it, she began coughing violently, causing her wound to hurt.

Zach stared at her, furrowing his brows, an expression he would always put on before flipping out. Madelyn could not be sure if she were overthinking it, but she felt like Zach’s eyes revealed a hint of concern for her.

However, the thought quickly disappeared from her mind. She knew that Zach was not someone who would feel for anyone.

Madelyn had long been used to how Zach was. Besides, so many people were at the table. She figured that Zach would not do anything to her. She drank some water to soothe her throat. However, no one at the table was eating comfortably.

Yvonne sat in the empty seat next to Zach and put some food on his plate without saying anything. She looked and acted exactly like a lady of the house would.

Most people would not have handled the situation as gracefully and thoughtfully as Yvonne.

Everyone at the table had different motives, making the dinner tense. After the meal, Jasmine went upstairs to get Madelyn and Yvonne each a set of gold jewelry.

“We just came back and didn’t have much time to prepare, so we had someone customize these jewelry sets. They’re not that expensive, but I hope you’ll accept them.”

Both sets of jewelry were identical. There was a mysterious and imperceptible smile on Jasmine’s face as she gazed at Madelyn. Then, she handed one of them to Yvonne first.

“Thank you, Mom,” Yvonne spoke. The smile on Jasmine’s face turned somewhat stiff, ‘… We’re family. There’s no need to be so polite.”

Jasmine turned to look at Madelyn, ‘ Madelyn, this is for you.”

Madelyn noticed the golden bangle Jasmine was wearing as she handed the jewelry set to her. However, she refused, “I don’t go out much, so it’d be a waste for me to have them.

“By the way, Jasmine, can Father still hear what we’re saying?”

Jasmine adjusted her scarf, sat down gracefully, and lifted the cup of rose tea prepared by the maid, “He can hear but can’t speak. We plan to treat your father now that we’re back, and we’ve visited a lot of hospitals. However, the doctor said they couldn’t find anything wrong with him and could do nothing.

“We’ve spent plenty of money in these few years.”

“Okay, I got it. I’ll go talk to Father now. Zach had just finished his call and happened to come over. He reached out to grab Madelyn, but she evaded him and walked right past him.

The bodyguard helped Hayson onto the bed. Then, the maid tucked him in and placed the oxygen mask back on his face. As they left, Madelyn quickly went to the study and took the photo she had hidden there earlier. However, she could not find the diary Kai had mentioned to her.

She sat at the edge of the bed and placed the old photograph in front of Hayson, “Father, do you know who the person in this photo is?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
