The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 750

Hayson sat there with an oxygen mask on his face, having recently suffered a stroke. His facial features appeared normal, his hand was frozen in a peculiar position, and he was unable to speak. He could not even eat on his own, and all he could do was sit in a wheelchair.

His little daughter, just three and a half years old, looked strikingly like Jasmine and sat shyly behind her.

Even though four years had passed, Jasmine looked ageless, radiating an even more mature and captivating presence. She was dressed in a dark blue gown decorated with white pear blossom petals, her lips were a soft pink, and her once long hair was now styled in short, loose curls. She also wore a pair of pearl earrings.

Margaret, usually a chatterbox, was notably silent that day.

Jasmine remained as arrogant and prideful as she always had. She said while holding her little daughter’s hand, “Madelyn, it’s been years since we last met, and you’ve only grown more beautiful. This is my daughter, by the way-Samantha Jent. We call her Sammy.”

She then said to the little girl, “Sammy, she’s your older sister, Madelyn.” Samantha took a step forward and called out to Madelyn with a soft voice, “H-Hello, Madelyn.”

Madelyn felt as if a knife was stabbing through her heart. She did not say a word, took a step back, and left the room.

She initially thought that everything would be fine as long as her father came back, even if he would act like he used to be.

But now everything that Kai said had come true; “Hayson will never come back as a complete person.”

Zach went to her room. Then, he saw Madelyn sitting on the bed while pulling her hair with her head down. His heart suddenly sank a little.

He stepped forward and stared at her. ” Your father is back. Isn’t that what you wanted? Why are you still feeling so down?”

Ever since Zach took her back to Ventropolis, she had worn this nonchalant expression, and her eyes were devoid of emotion.

She was a living person, sitting right in front of Zach, but he felt like that was not her at all. He could not tell what was not right. Although he tried his best to restore everything to exactly the way it had been since she left the Jent residence, she still acted the same way.

Zach always wanted to keep her by his side, but he just felt like he had never truly captured her.

“I’m talking to you! Speak!” His tone suddenly turned stern. “There’s nothing to say. How could I ever criticize you for anything you do? I’m fine, leave me alone… Just carry on with your business. I’m still feeling a little dizzy and I need some rest.”

Madelyn lifted her head and spoke. Her eyes looked a little red as she added, ” Zach, would you please go out for a while? I want to spend some time alone. Please.”

Zach could not do anything to her right now, so he said as his gaze darkened, ‘ I’ll give you half an hour, and then come downstairs for dinner.”

“I…” Madelyn wanted to tell him that she was not hungry. However. She looked at his hostile gaze and changed her mind. “Okay,” she replied softly.

Hayson was wheeled downstairs by the maids, taking his place at the long dining table. The seating had changed; the table that used to accommodate only three people, not counting Jadie, was now filled with several others.

Though Hayson sat in the center, he was no longer the one who could preside over dinner. Zach took his usual spot at the head of the table on the right, and the seat next to him, once belonging to Jadie, remained unfilled. Even his wife, Yvonne, didn’t have the privilege to claim that seat.

Jasmine held Samantha in her arms.

Everyone was seated, quietly waiting for someone to arrive. As half an hour ticked by, the food on the table had turned cold.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
