The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 698 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 698

‘Zach likes obedient women. We’ve just tied the knot, and our big celebration is the day after tomorrow. I don’t want to mess things up between us,’ Yvonne thought as she left.

Zach and Madelyn were the only ones left in the room. Madelyn felt uneasy being alone with him. The room got awkwardly quiet, making the air feel heavy.

Madelyn looked pale, and it wasn’t just because she had had a fall. Zach’s eyes felt like they were prying into her soul.

“Have you been talking to him all these years?” he asked, his voice cold.

“You should focus more on my new sister-in-law than on stuff like this. And you really shouldn’t be inappropriate with me, your sister. People will talk, and it’ll ruin my reputation.”

Zach frowned, “Do you have to talk to me this way?”

Madelyn looked at him calmly. “Am I wrong? Nobody’s more repulsive than you, Zach!”

She continued, “I feel disgusted every time you touch me. There’s no need for you to put on an act and worry about me. You know better than anyone why I’ve got bad health. When the day I die comes, it’ll be all thanks to you.”

Zach stood beside her and lifted his hand. Madelyn spoke, “Don’t touch me.” Zach’s hand froze mid-air. “Madelyn, she and I are just doing it for show.”

“I don’t care if you and her are doing it for show. I just want you to stay away from me.”

She continued, “Whatever. Please go out. I don’t want to see you.”

“I said, get out!” she roared. Yvonne listened to the conversation in the room. Her gown was crumpled from her violent grip. Zach came out, and Yvonne forced a smile, “You two-”

He cut her off before she could finish, Take good care of her.”

“Okay.” Yvonne walked into the hospital room. She did not look happy. However, she could not make her feelings obvious in front of Madelyn.

‘I can’t do anything to Madelyn now for the sake of my future. Besides, a dying person doesn’t have what it takes to compete with me,’ she thought.

“Do you really plan on giving up treatment? There might still be hope.” Madelyn’s gaze was icy. There was no need for her to continue putting on an act.

“Don’t you think my dying would actually make things easier for you? Then you wouldn’t have to worry about me anymore,” Madelyn said. Yvonne was caught off guard; she didn’t expect Madelyn to be so blunt.

‘If this is the case, there’s no need for me to continue pretending,’ thought Yvonne. She said, “The wedding ceremony is the day after tomorrow. My mom and I decided to secretly send you and Ethan to receive medical treatment abroad. Are you willing to leave Ventropolis for Ethan?”

This was actually also something Madelyn wanted. She said, “Can you guarantee that he won’t find out? Neither of us can escape the consequences if he finds out.

‘I escaped once. And what was the price I paid? No one knows better than me. Zach doesn’t have feelings for me, only possessiveness. If that lunatic learns that I’ve escaped, who knows what he’ll do?’ she thought.

“You don’t need to worry about that. On the day of the wedding ceremony, you just need to make an excuse to stay at the hospital. A helicopter will send you and Ethan to the airport. My mother’s already arranged a private jet, and the hospital’s medical team will send you two to a secluded island to receive medical treatment. If you’re lucky, your cancer might even be cured.

Madelyn looked at Yvonne seriously, ” I’m not afraid of getting involved. I’m worried that Zach might do something to Ethan. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do.”

However, Yvonne smirked. It was as if she was mocking Madelyn for overestimating her own importance.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
