The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 697

Kai smiled meaningfully at Zach and said, “Came sooner than I thought.”

‘What did I say? He’d eventually fall for her. He could not help himself from falling for her even after he got the DNA test report,’ he thought.

Zach and Yvonne simultaneously turned to Madelyn. Meanwhile, Madelyn’s gaze remained on Kai until Yvonne went to her side and held her hand. “Why’d you end up in the hospital all of a sudden? Are you sick?”

Yvonne knew about Madelyn’s condition. ‘She’s saying this to hide my condition, but I won’t rule out the possibility that she has other things in mind,’ Madelyn thought. Madelyn looked away and ignored Kai’s half-smile. He looked like he was anticipating some drama.

She was curious, ‘What in the world does Kai want to tell me? Why does he know my mother? Could he be the person who had left the flowers at her grave?’ In their previous life, Madelyn did not know of Kai’s relationship with her mother.

‘And… Didn’t my mother die from excessive bleeding while giving birth to me? Everything seemed to have turned into a mystery. Why didn’t anyone tell me all this in our previous life?’ she wondered. Madelyn replied, “I tripped and fell on my way back from the monastery.”

This was Madelyn’s excuse that Yvonne and the bodyguards had agreed upon. Meanwhile, Kai saw through them. He smirked subtly. Zach turned to Kai and looked at him..

“Where’s her medical report?” he asked icily. Kai responded nonchalantly, “Didn’t Madelyn already tell you? She had a fall, and she’s fine. Madelyn’s so fragile that she can fall while walking. In the future, she should stay home and not go wandering around.”

Madelyn was annoyed at their bickering. “There’s no need to worry about me. All of you should go home! I’ll go home myself after I’m done with my IV drip.”

“Honey, you should go home first! Don’t you still have a meeting in the afternoon? I’ll watch over Madelyn at the hospital and call you when I’m back, said Yvonne as she was still worried.

Madelyn did not spare Zach a glance throughout the entire interaction. Kai conscientiously left the room. When he turned around, he smiled, but his gaze was icy.

Just then, the phone on the bedside table rang. Yvonne grabbed a phone and asked, ” It’s a call for you. Are you gonna answer it?”

The caller ID showed “Kennedy Johnson Madelyn answered the phone in front of them.

“What’s up?”

“I heard Grandpa say that you’ve gone back? Are you… Are you alright?”

Kennedy was the first person to learn of her condition. Back when she left Ventropolis, Kennedy was the one who had helped her hide her condition. The two had rarely communicated when she was in France.

“I’m fine. How about you?”

“You don’t have to worry about me. I’ll go and find you when I’ve settled the business at hand.”

“Alright.”

After a short exchange, Kennedy waited for Madelyn to hang up the phone. Madelyn ignored Zach’s dark expression. She said to Yvonne, “You’re my sister-in-law now. Could you please help me collect later?” my medication Yvonne was momentarily taken aback hearing Madelyn say she was her sister -in-law. However, she quickly regained her composure and said with a smile, You’re right. We’re a family now.”

“Go out, now,” Zach said coldly. Yvonne turned around and glanced at Zach. She wanted to say something. When she noticed the icy aura he was emanating, the smile on her face dropped. Then, she swallowed her words and walked out in silence.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
