The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 699

Yvonne said, “You don’t need to worry about this. Zach won’t harm Ethan.. After all, Ethan is his brother-in-law.”

Listening to Yvonne’s confident tone, Madelyn remained silent, hoping for a smooth and safe departure with Ethan.. Despite this, she could not help feeling a bit uneasy.

When Yvonne left, she went downstairs to get medicine for Madelyn. Madelyn didn’t trust this hospital, so she threw away all the medicine. ‘Who knows if it’s safe?’

Madelyn felt better and went upstairs to visit Ethan. She sat by his bedside, wet a cotton swab, and moistened his lips. Ethan looked lifeless, like he was gone. Madelyn sat there with him, not knowing how long, with so much to say.

“Today, the abbot said you will surely recover soon. You’ve been sleeping for so long. Can you please wake up? Ethan, it’ll snow again in Ventropolis in a few months, and I saw the words behind the sculpture at school. It’s my name.”

Madelyn’s voice quivered a bit. “I’ve been talking to you these past few days, sharing everything that’s happened in my life these past four years. I don’t know if you can hear me, but I really wish you’d wake up. I want to see the old Ethan again. I won’t hold a grudge against you for everything with Donna. Please, wake up soon, okay?”

A tear shed by Madelyn fell onto his gaunt face. As the scalding tear touched his skin, Ethan in the bed seemed to stir. Listening to the footsteps approaching the door, Madelyn quickly wiped away the tears on her chin, sniffed, and acted as if nothing had happened.

The bodyguard entered, “Ms. Jent, you should head back now. Mr. Jardin is already at the Floral Loft and wants us to take you there now.”

“I got it. Go outside and wait for me.’

Madelyn looked out the window, and the night had fallen. She had not realized how quickly time had passed. She gently touched his face. “You must wake up, okay? When you wake up, we’ll go to Mistral Monastery together to give thanks.”

After leaving the hospital room, she turned on a small lamp and closed the door behind her. She went back to Floral Loft. When she got there, she saw Zach in the living room. He wore black and white striped pajamas, and his hair looked slightly wet, like he had just showered. He sat on the couch, looking through some papers. He seemed really serious.

Madelyn had just closed the door behind her and was about to head to her room when she heard Zach say, Come here.”

Madelyn ignored him.

“Come here! Didn’t you hear what I said?” Zach threw the item in his hand onto the coffee table. Madelyn walked over expressionlessly, “Is there something else? I’m tired and want to rest.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
