The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 656 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 656

“Ethan, no… Don’t go, please.” Tears streamed down Madelyn’s face as she murmured, clutching the hand she feared she would lose. Engulfed in a nightmare, she saw a frail Ethan lying alone in a hospital bed. She dashed into the room, searching for a doctor, but everything was eerily quiet. Ethan’s voice echoed, revealing he was on the brink of death and saying his final goodbye. The pain she felt was piercing. Despite her frantic efforts, she could not get to him. As he faded away and the surroundings dimmed, total darkness overcame her.

Zach’s cold and intense gaze never left her, his face as tense as a storm building on the horizon.

A sharp pang in her chest woke Madelyn. As she sat up quickly, she accidentally tore a page from the book she had been holding. She noticed Zach beside her, his gaze dark and intense.

The intensity in his eyes unsettled her, but it faded almost as quickly as she noticed it, leaving her questioning what she saw. Zach reached out, gently tucking stray strands of her hair behind her ear.

“Bad dream?” he asked. Madelyn flinched slightly. “It’s nothing. I just need a moment in the bathroom,” she said. “Okay,” Zach replied with a neutral tone.

Madelyn rose from the bed, sliding into her slippers. She headed to the bathroom and freshened herself with a splash of water on her face, trying to distance herself from the haunting dream. ‘Why did that dream feel so real?’ She wondered. Pushing the unsettling thought aside, her mind wandered, ‘If he just takes care of his legs, they’re probably recovered by now. After all this time, he might not even think of me.’ The heaviness of the dream still pressed on her. Knowing Donna was there for Ethan brought some comfort. Even if they had no future together, she genuinely hoped he was doing well.

After taking a moment, Madelyn came out of the bathroom and saw Zach by the bed with her medicine. She grabbed it, saying, “Hey, don’t touch my things, and quickly put the bottle in her bag.

“You’re with me now. What can’t I see? Zach challenged.

Concerned, Madelyn replied, “What if you messed with it? Good enough reason?” She did not stick around to see Zach’s response. Instead, she headed to the closet to change, not liking the sticky feeling on her skin.

When Zach suggested going out, Madelyn was not feeling it. She liked being alone. There was a balcony at the hotel, and she settled onto a comfy couch there, looking out at the city lights with a blanket wrapped around her.

By the time Zach was done with what he was doing, it was already dark outside.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
