The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 649

Clement was holding back his anger. He continued saying with his hands on his hips, “To be fair, we could’ve waited for her progress as long as there was no breach of contract. She was sick. It wasn’t something that she could control. But you took over her task and submitted the artwork early without asking for a proper handover from her. What did we gain from finishing the work ahead of schedule?

“Did we get a compliment? Or was there extra pay?

“Because of one thing that you said, in the past few days, every one of us worked overtime to catch up with the progress. Sandy was overworked and ended up in the hospital. You should know that Encounter Gaming gave us enough time that would’ve allowed us to finish the work without needing to work overtime.”

Jane sneered, “So, you think everything is my fault? I merely wanted everyone to finish the work quickly so that we could have some time to rest!

“Clement, I don’t know what to say when you’ve gone to this extent in being a bootlicker! As for you saying I’m jealous of Madelyn, what’s there for me to be jealous of?

“I’ve always handled things fairly. I wouldn’t turn a blind eye when Madelyn lacked competence and failed to follow instructions. Prof. Monet entrusted the studio to me. So, I must take on the responsibility. If you think it’s my fault, I have nothing more to say then.”

Dorian walked over to comfort Jane, Don’t be angry. He’s been misled by Madelyn. His judgment is clouded.”

Clement responded, “I won’t say out what’s going on in your mind. You know it yourself! Don’t forget what Prof. Monet said when he handed over the studio to you. We’ve worked together for so many years. We’re a team! We should support and help each other! You shouldn’t just indiscriminately kick her out of our team!”

“Clement!” Jane was furious as she yelled his name. Usually, Jane was the calmest member of the team. Apart from Madelyn, her abilities were considered quite good too.

Today, it was rare that she got so furious! It was because of Jane’s leadership skills that Leonardo decided to entrust the studio to her.

Now that there was a problem, she must be responsible for it. Clement’s actions were simply an attempt to calm her down.

Clement said, “Be honest, from the very first day she appeared, have you ever treated her as one of us?! You isolated her. You didn’t even bother to send her a message about the meetings. What were you trying to do? Were you trying to secretly kick her out of the team to show off your abilities?

“When she came back yesterday, why didn’t you tell her that you’d taken over her tasks? Did you derive satisfaction from watching her waste her time?!”

The people that were eavesdropping inside the studio exchanged glances. They thought, ‘Yeah! Ever since they came back from their research trip and took over that project, we’ve never seen Madelyn in any of our meetings. So, it turns out that she didn’t intentionally avoid the meetings. She wasn’t acting like a spoiled brat.

‘Jane actually didn’t inform her about the meetings at all!’

Not many people worked in the studio. Usually, Jane would either send them an email or just shout in the studio to notify everyone about meetings.

After what Clement said, everyone began to understand what was actually happening a little better! They realized that Jane isolated Madelyn because she did not approve of her.

People inside the studio thought,’ Come to think about it now, Madelyn hasn’t really done anything wrong! She’s pretty, she has good learning abilities, and she’s very humble. Whenever there was something that she didn’t understand and needed advice or revisions, she’d point it out very gently and clearly. She didn’t act arrogantly like a spoiled brat.

‘She even generously treated everyone to meals with the prize money she won in the competition. There really isn’t anything to criticize about her. Come to think of it, there’s nothing wrong with Madelyn.’

“Fine. If you say so, I have nothing to say! Whoever wants to be in charge of this studio, can be.” Jane pulled her work badge off and tossed it in front of Clement before walking away briskly.

Clement pulled her hand to stop her, You can’t leave yet!”

Jane asked, “What else do you want?” Clement responded, “Apologize to her!”

Jane said, “Don’t push it! Why should I apologize to her?!”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
