The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 633

“I heard from Jane that you haven’t been going to the studio?”

Madelyn pursed her lips. She felt some come up behind her and wrap their arms around her waist. She pinched Zach’s hand to signal him to stop moving.

“Sorry, Prof. Monet. I’ve been feeling unwell, so I was at the hospital. I forgot to inform Jane about it.”

“What are you down with?”

“Just a mild fever. I’ll be discharged tomorrow,” she replied. “It’s been raining a lot recently. Stay warm and take care of your health.”

“I will, sir.”

Madelyn waited for Leonardo to hang up before she put her phone away. She wanted to push Zach away, but her struggle was to no avail. In the end, she gave up. “How much longer will you hold me? There are other people in the room.”

“They won’t look,” he replied. Madelyn retorted, “You’re making me uncomfortable. Let go.

Zach scrutinized her face. The swelling had almost gone away. Other than the unknown marks on her face, she had almost recovered.

‘She’s gone through so much and been to so many places over the past four years, yet her skin is still so smooth and flawless,’ he thought.

He caressed the skin under her clothes. with his rough thumb. Madelyn frowned and glared at him in disgust,” Don’t push it.”

Zach ignored her words. He held her hand and led her to the dining table. Then, he pulled a chair for her and signaled her to sit. He sat across her and said, “Have some. These were made according to your liking.”

“When do you plan on returning to Ventropolis? Do you not have other things to do?”

Madelyn did not have much appetite, so she only took a few bites of the food. She bowed her head to hide the emotions in her eyes.

“Shall I make some more time to be with you?”

“There’s no need,” Madelyn replied without hesitation.

“But I want to.”

Madelyn felt annoyed at the thought of how he would be staying in France. “Go find something to do if you have nothing to do.”

Madelyn ate less than half of the food and set down her cutlery. Then, she took a book and sat on the couch. She absentmindedly flipped through the book and thought of the odd things Yvonne had said.

‘Why’d she ask me to return to Ventropolis and take a look? What happened at Ventropolis?’ she wondered.

Madelyn looked down. A photo had fallen out of the pages of the book. It was a photograph of a landscape she had casually taken at her room door. After she developed the photo, she wrote something behind it, “After every storm comes a rainbow.”

When she heard the footsteps coming from behind, she quickly wiped away her tears. She kept the photograph and closed the book. Then, she felt the seat next to hers sink. Zach put one arm around her waist and reached the other out to grab the book.

Madelyn stood up warily and kept some distance from him. She did not want to be in his presence. “Stand right there. Where do you want to go again this time?”

Rght after Zach finished his sentence, Cecilia appeared at the door. Madelyn did not respond and walked past Cecilia.

Meanwhile, Zach watched dangerously as Madelyn walked out. Then, he turned to Cecilia.

“What is it?”

Cecilia walked up to him, “How much longer do you plan on giving me the silent treatment?”

She continued, “All this just because of that one slap? If I didn’t come to you, would you purposefully be with Madelyn to piss me off?”

“In our past life, you wouldn’t have done this,” she added.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
