The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 620 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 620

A group of bodyguards dressed in black barged into their apartment as Lila screamed. Madelyn heard the commotion from her room and immediately locked the door. Then, she pushed the wardrobe and table to barricade the door, intending to stop those people from entering.

She hurriedly grabbed her phone and called the police. The bodyguards warned her from outside, “Ms. Jent, things won’t end well if you keep resisting.”

“We’ll have to break in if you don’t come out now.

Zach’s men would do just anything. Her room door was not particularly secure or reinforced, and if they really were to force their way in, Madelyn would not be able to hold them back. She had no idea how Zach’s men had managed to find her here.

The door was pounded on repeatedly with loud thuds as Madelyn pressed her back against the table. After about twenty minutes, the noise outside subsided.

Lila knocked on the door and said, ” Madelyn, the police are here. They need us to go to the police station to make a statement.”

Madelyn only regained her composure upon hearing Lila’s voice. She moved the wardrobe and table away and walked out of the room. Then, she saw several police officers questioning the bodyguards who had barged in.

After a while, they were all taken to the police station. In the interrogation room, Madelyn kept quiet, not knowing how to explain the situation to the police. On the other hand, Lila could not stop recounting the violent act the group of people committed in their apartment.

Madelyn knew that she was scared. She did not want to go back, but she did not know what else she could do either. She had left for so many years, so she could not figure out how Zach had managed to find her again or what he wanted from her.

The fact that his bodyguards showed up at the apartment told her that Zach had been tracking her long before this…

The interrogation finally ended an hour later. It was nine o’clock when Zach’s meeting ended. When he was about to return to the hotel, he received a call from the police station.

Kevin received the orders to turn the car around and drive to the hospital. He was a little surprised but did not ask any questions. He figured that other than Madelyn, no one else could give them so much trouble in such a short time.

They had initially planned to go to the airport and pick someone up. Although the interrogation had ended, the police did not let them leave immediately.

Madelyn and Lila stayed in the detention room. “I’m sorry for dragging you into this.” Madelyn apologized to Lila.

“Madelyn, what exactly happened? Why did those people come after you? Also, who are those people who took you away on the cruise last time?”

Madelyn kept quiet because she did not want to relive those moments. Other than some rare happy times, most of her memories with him had been painful. The only reason she had run away for so many years was to forget him.

However, Madelyn realized that no matter how many years had passed, those memories were already etched in her mind, and they could not be forgotten so easily despite how hard she tried. After about ten minutes, Zach arrived.

Madelyn was released on bail. Lila looked at the man before her. She was so shocked that she could not even speak. That was because the man in front of her was the same man who had recently made headlines in the French newspaper. “Shit!” she cursed inwardly.

She realized that the man looked even better than he was in the newspaper upon taking a closer look at him. Zach exuded a captivating aura of masculinity.

“I’m very sorry for the misunderstanding,” Zach said with a charming smile that could take anyone’s breath away.

Lila could not contain her admiration for Zach and spoke to him for nearly three minutes straight, looking extremely excited. She even blamed Madelyn for not telling her that the man she had been dreaming about was actually her “brother.”

Madelyn was on the brink of going insane because Lila had no idea what kind of demon was standing in front of her.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
