The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 619

Then, Madelyn went to a shopping mall on the iconic street of Boulevard Haussmann of France. She had previously worked there as a saleswoman, although only for a few days. The hotel got them a car, and a driver took Madelyn and the bodyguards there.

Inside the mall, Madelyn pretended to take a few pieces of clothes. The bodyguards took photos of her, and she figured that they were probably reporting her whereabouts to Zach. After that, Madelyn went into a lingerie store and made several purchases.

While sitting in the car, Zach felt his phone vibrating. He took it out and saw a notification of a deduction from his account balance. Then, he casually turned off the screen and put it back into his pocket. Madelyn had just spent several hundred thousand dollars in one go with his card, yet he did not seem to care at all.

Kevin reported to him, “Ms. Samford will arrive at the airport around nine- thirty at night.”

“Hm,” Zach responded nonchalantly. “Are we still going to bring Ms. Samford along to the charity gala the day after tomorrow?”

“Is the dress ready yet?” Zach asked with his eyes closed.

“No, Mr. Jardin. We still need to confirm the size and the clothing company will personally select a design before delivering it to the hotel.”

“Okay.”

Zach entered the meeting room. It was a subsidiary of the company overseas, and the executives were giving a presentation in front. The meeting would commence in an hour.

Outside the meeting room, Kevin received a call from one of the bodyguards. Though the news he heard was not entirely surprising, he still furrowed his brow.

Kevin walked over to the person sitting in the middle of the meeting table and whispered to Zach about how Madelyn had managed to escape from the bodyguards in the mall. Indeed, it was not shocking that she would try to escape.

But there was no turning back for her now…

After coming out of the shopping mall, she hailed a cab. During the ride, she was worried that there would be something wrong with the necklace Zach had given her, so she tried to take it off but found that the clasp could not be unfastened no matter how hard she tried.

She immediately made the decision to break that necklace regardless of how expensive it might be and threw it out of the moving car.

The bodyguards tracked the necklace down just to find out that a homeless man was holding it, and Madelyn had already disappeared without a trace.

Lila saw Madelyn coming back to the apartment and she asked frantically, 11 Madelyn, who were those people? Why did they take you away?”

Madelyn did not have time to explain everything to her, so she made it brief, “Lila, they’re not good people. You need to pack your things and go back to your hometown for a while, or go to the cafe if you want. I’m sorry… I don’t want you to get involved in this. I can’t explain everything to you right now, but you’ve got to listen to me.”

Lila realized the urgency of the situation. She quickly went back to her room to pack, wanting to leave with Madelyn.

When Madelyn was packing in her room, she noticed that someone had moved her diary on the table. She knew that someone had been in her room!

In the next moment, something else seemed to have struck her. She immediately rushed over to the suitcase under her bed, but when she opened it…

Everything was gone!

Her ID and passport were both missing.

She searched the entire room, desperate. Suddenly, she heard the chaotic footsteps outside the door approaching her room.

Lila was screaming in terror…

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
