The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 604

“You have an appointment with Miss Young today at noon. Then, a charity event at six in the evening. Also, don’t forget the important banquet in Paris in five days. Your invitation is already in the CEO’s office.”

Kevin, Cecilia, and Zach left the elevator after reaching the ninety- ninth floor. Kevin headed to the assistant’s office as Cecilia and Zach moved to the CEO’s office. Over the years, Cecilia’s support had been crucial in Zach’s ascent to power. Now, with the Arnold family out of the picture, he commanded Ventropolis. Cecilia made a cup of coffee and placed it in front of him. She pressed a button, and the office doors closed. Then, she sat on his lap without hesitation.

“I’ve been there for every win. It’s time for you to hold up your end, don’t you think?” Cecilia’s hand moved with purpose across his chest, her touch light but insistent.

Zach met her gaze, his face a blank slate. “You seem to have too much time on your hands.” His eyes held a chill, a subtle irritation flickering and then gone. He did not move from her touch.

“The situation is changing, Zach. We’re ascending. Follow my lead, and the world is yours. Four years, Zach. Four years of unwavering support. I stand unmatched, the only one worthy to be at your side.”

Zach knew it was true. A lot of his success was thanks to Cecilia. From the day she showed up, she acted like she knew everything about him. It was as if she was directing his life, ensuring everything happened just right.

“You’ve been helping me all this time, Ms. Samford, just to become Mrs. Jardin? You really think I’d believe that’s all you want?” Zach bent closer, gently lifting her chin to look at her eyes. He saw the bright red of her lips.

“Of course…” Cecilia, her arms around his neck, whispered. “It’s to fix the mistakes from our past life. Now, I’m not just here to help you, Zach. I’m meant to be with you, as your wife.”

A knock came at the office door. Cecilia stood and straightened her clothes. Zach pressed a button, opening the door automatically. Kevin walked in, holding a document, “This needs your signature.”

Zach glanced at the document and signed it. He handed it back to Kevin, who seemed to hesitate. Zach looked up at him, “Anything else?”

Kevin’s eyes briefly moved to Cecilia, who was now standing aside.

“May I stay for Kevin’s report?” Cecilia asked.

“Of course,” Zach said, gesturing for Kevin to proceed. “Some former employees of Azure Corporation spotted Ms. Jent in an online video.”

“Where’s the video?”

Kevin presented a short video on a tablet. As it played, Zach immediately recognized the girl sitting on the grass with a drawing board. With just a glimpse of her side profile, Zach knew it was her. The video paused, showing Madelyn’s face with a gentle smile, her eyes bright.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
