The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 605

Zach’s gaze remained on Madelyn’s face as he watched the blurry video. After a moment, he looked away, handing the tablet back, “Tell Mr. Frederick Tesla I’ll be on time for the Paris banquet.”

Kevin gave a slight nod, “Yes, Mr. Jardin.” After Kevin left, Zach turned to Cecilia, who stood beside him, “What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy I’m bringing her back?”

“You still can’t let her go after all,” Cecilia said, her arms folded and her expression sulky. “Did you forget what I told you? In our previous lives, it was Madelyn who tore us apart. We even had a son. If not for her, we wouldn’t have separated.”

Zach stared at Cecilia. She seemed honest, but her talk about past life confused him. It was hard to believe in rebirth and old memories. Most people would call it crazy. Yet, Cecilia’s actions made Zach want to believe her. He narrowed his eyes, thinking hard. After a bit, he asked, “If you were reborn, how did I die last time?”

When Zach asked this, Cecilia hid her surprise. She looked at him sadly and walked toward the big window, “You only lived to be fifty-five back then. Madelyn poisoned you after we got married. I had to raise our kid alone. Now I’m back, and it’s like getting a second chance to be with you. Our meeting again feels like it’s meant to be. When I was in danger, seeing you first after opening my eyes felt so right. Zach, even if you don’t remember the past, that’s okay. I’ll stay with you and help bring back your memories. This time, no one will split us up again.”

While working at Supreme World, a guest drugged Cecilia. She fought back, making the guest angry. The guest then handed her over to the bodyguards. When things were about to get worse, Zach swooped in and saved her. Cecilia woke up in the hospital and had a strange memory of a past life where she knew Zach.

Still haunted by the pain of losing Zach before, Cecilia could not believe what she saw. There he was, 26 and vibrantly alive, and not just as a sorrowful memory. As tears filled her eyes, the enormity of the reunion overwhelmed her. Later, she would use the business insights she had learned alongside him. After all, Zach had been her mentor in all things business. It was as if life was offering her a fresh start with him by her side.

In this new life, she felt thankful to be with Zach again. Now, as he became a respected leader in Ventropolis, they would always stay together.

Zach tapped his fingers on the table with a steady beat. He was looking at an old vase far away on a shelf, his mind. somewhere else.

‘If Cecilia changed because she was born again, is Madelyn the same? Did she run away after knowing what happened in her past life? When did she come back with memories of her past life?’ he wondered.

A picture suddenly popped into Zach’s mind. It was Madelyn, right after she turned 18, looking pale in the hospital after trying to hurt herself badly. When she woke up, she became different. Starting that day, she acted weird and stayed away from him for no reason. At first, he did not understand why.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
