The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 585 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 585

After Robin’s surgery, he was immediately taken to the Arnold residence. Once he woke up, he started crying and calling out for his mother.

Robin had always been by Donna’s side since he was young. No servant could calm him down. He cried non-stop, and whatever he ate, he would vomit right back out. One night, he even threw up blood.

Upon hearing this, Evelyn became extremely distressed. Ignoring Ethan’s objections, she directly sent for Donna to come over. Only then did Robin finally calm down. Robin was of the Arnold family bloodline. How could she not be heartbroken for him?

After the family doctor examined him, it was concluded that there wasn’t any serious issue. He had cried so hard that he had a nosebleed, and the blood had gone into his mouth, making it seem like he was vomiting blood.

Children do have a quick recovery rate. In just a few days, Robin was able to get out of bed. Throughout this time, Donna also stayed quietly at the Arnold residence to take care of him. In the living room, Robin joyfully played with a toy plane. Donna followed behind him.

A servant carried a plate of sliced fruits to the couch and set it down. As she did, she spotted a fallen phone by her shoes. She could see that someone was still on the line, so she reached down to grab it. But by the time she held it in her hands, the call had disconnected. She did, however, catch a glimpse of the caller’s name.

“Sir, your phone fell on the ground, and I just saw-”

But she was cut off by Donna’s sharp cry.

“Ahhh!”

Ethan looked over to see Robin had fallen. Frantically, Donna scooped up Robin, chiding softly, “…I warned you about running. The floor can be slick. Especially after your surgery; you could’ve been injured. Let me check you.” She tenderly touched Robin’s slightly red hand and gave a soft puff of air.

“It doesn’t hurt at all.” Robin chuckled and ran to Ethan, climbing onto the couch and immediately sitting on his lap. “What are you looking at, Daddy?”

Ethan gazed at the phone the servant had just picked up, deep in thought. Just then, George walked in. “Sir, I need to report something.”

Ethan regained his focus and set Robin down. “Go play for a bit.” He then turned to George, asking, “What is it?”

Without avoiding Donna, George straightforwardly said, “Miss Jent suddenly returned to the Jent residence a few days ago. We found out it’s because Hayson had a stroke.”

Ethan’s expression changed. Apart from surprise, he mostly felt overwhelmed and unprepared. Looking at the little boy beside him, who bore a striking resemblance to him, he felt a heavy weight in his heart.

“…Noted. You may leave now.”

As George left, he cast a meaningful glance at Donna. Ethan picked up the phone. The phone screen turned on, and he saw the call that had connected two minutes earlier. His hand trembled slightly.

He had never felt this way before, overwhelmed with fear and panic. Above all, he feared losing Madelyn. He wondered: How much had she overheard? ‘If she didn’t already know, why didn’t she… let me know she was back?’

Ethan started for the stairs, with Robin keen on tagging along. Donna was quick, grabbing hold of Robin to stay by her side.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
