The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 586

There had to be a decision made. If Ethan chose Madelyn, it would mean losing both Donna and their child. If he truly wished to keep his child, then it would depend on whether Madelyn could accept the child’s existence.

Of course, Donna hoped that Madelyn would gracefully step back. Even if their bond was deep, she believed it couldn’t surpass the fact she had borne Ethan’s child.

Ethan made a call, and it was quickly answered. He remained silent. Madelyn inquired, “Ethan? You called me just now. Did you have something to tell me?”

Hearing her voice, which seemed to betray no unusual emotion, Ethan hesitantly said, “I must have dialed accidentally…”

Madelyn responded, “I noticed there was no sound on the other end, so I hung up. I was actually going to call you back to let you know that I’ve returned to Venturia. My father fell ill, and I need to take care of him for a few days. I’m sorry for not informing you sooner.

Somehow, Ethan felt relieved. “Okay. I’ll come over now. Maybe I can help by contacting a doctor. Is your father’s condition serious?”

Madelyn replied with a hint of detachment, “The situation isn’t clear right now. The doctor will come tomorrow. You don’t need to trouble yourself. I have some matters to attend to, so I’ll hang up now.”

“Alright, I’ll come to see you tomorrow. There was silence on the other end for a few seconds before Madelyn responded, “Mhm.”

She then ended the call. Madelyn had spent the entire day by Hayson’s bedside, attending to him with unwavering dedication. While tidying up the room, she stumbled upon a photo album tucked beneath a drawer in Hayson’s wardrobe.

Upon opening it, she found pictures of several familiar faces, yet she couldn’t recall their names. They looked like good men, but she knew they were former mafia leaders.

‘Father always seemed like a loner. I never knew he had connections with so many people in the past.’ Throughout the thick album, Madelyn couldn’t find a single picture of her mother, leaving her somewhat disheartened. Just then, there was a knock on the door. “Madelyn- I mean Ms. Jent, dinner’s ready.”

Madelyn shot Rosario an icy glare, “I’ll come down later.”

She put the album back in the drawer and stood up, noticing that Rosario was still in the room. However, she dismissively ignored Rosario’s presence and closed the window. The weather was cold, and people could easily fall sick.

“Madelyn…” Rosario began, holding back tears. Madelyn interrupted, “If there’s nothing else, please leave. I don’t wish to see you right now, and we have nothing to discuss.”

Suddenly, Rosario rushed forward and knelt before Madelyn. “It’s all my fault. Poisoned you was my idea, Madelyn… I was wrong! My past grudges blinded me. If you want to hate or punish someone, let it be me. Whatever punishment you think I deserve, I’ll accept.”

Madelyn’s face was devoid of any evident anger as she looked down at Rosario. Madelyn had been through so much in the past that nothing could faze her anymore. Yet, in her previous life, she had died without knowing that the person indirectly responsible for her death was someone so close to her.

“I’ve already forgiven you. Please stand up,” Madelyn said, her voice was calm.

“Rosario?! What are you doing?” Jadie rushed in, pulling Rosario to her feet. ” Zach?!” Jadie cast a pleading look at Zach for assistance.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
