The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 573

Kai was no longer in the mood. He walked over to the couch and sat down as the two hostesses followed him and moved into his arms.

Wincy turned around and stormed over. Then, she threw her Chanel bag at Kai, which he blocked with his hand. “Enough of your tantrums,” he said. with slight anger.

‘Who’s he to be mad at me?’ thought Wincy. She retorted, “You called me over just to embarrass me and use me as a toy for your amusement?”

Kai crossed his legs and pulled one of the hostesses closer, “Amusement? Not at all. Ms. Burton, you must be well aware that we’re all adults here. It’s just fun and games. Some things are not meant to be taken seriously.”

“You’re saying all this because you don’t want to take responsibility for what happened. You know that was my…” Wincy was too embarrassed to finish her sentence. Meanwhile, Kai was not bothered at all.

“Your what? Your first time? So what if I knew? I’ve taken so many women’s first time; am I supposed to take responsibility for every single one of them?”

He looked at her in amusement and continued, “We’re all adults, Ms. Burton. It’s about time you changed that conservative and stubborn mindset of yours. It was consensual.”

Wincy was speechless. The man she had harbored feelings for over the years turned out to be a player and a flippant jerk. She trembled in anger. Then, she slapped him across the face out of humiliation, “You’re a bastard, Kai!

You’ll get what you deserve soon.”

Kai was unfazed. He smirked and said, ” I’ll be waiting.”

He watched her retreating figure and even waved at her. It was ten thirty at night, and Zach was on his way to the airport. Suddenly, a red-colored Maserati appeared and forced him to stomp on the brakes.

Even the best driving skills were no match for the speed of this expensive car. Zach’s black-colored Audi now sported a noticeable scrape mark.

He pulled over and winded down half of his window. Then, he calmly lit a cigarette. A flamboyantly dressed girl emerged from the red Maserati. Yvonne shouted at the man in the car, Get out of the car. I won’t let you go.

She continued, “I won’t let you go to Paris to meet Madelyn. She’s my brother’s fiancee now. You have no chance with her. Leave with me now, and I won’t tell my brother about this.”

“If you’ve got so much time on your hands, why don’t you go home and study?” Zach irritably exhaled a puff of cigarette smoke. There were barely any emotions on his handsome face, but his cold tone evidently showed his annoyance.

“That’s right. I’ve got a lot of time on my hands because I like you. Why else would I waste my time and make a fool of myself in front of you time and again?”

Yvonne knew Zach had approached her with ulterior motives. She was only saying all this now because she was worried Zach would reject her.

‘I’d rather maintain our ambiguous relationship and let others misunderstand me. I always leverage my status to get close and cling to him. I’ll even take advantage of the fact that he can’t get rid of me,’ thought Yvonne.

She continued to say to herself, ‘But nothing’s for certain when it comes to love. Once you fall for someone, you fall hard. I don’t want to lie to myself anymore. I’ll cling to him for the rest of my life, even if my mom doesn’t agree.’

Zach had already grown tired of the countless confessions he had gotten over the past 26 years of his life.

He threw the cigarette butt out of the window and unbuckled his seatbelt as he got out of the car and immediately grabbed her by her neck, gradually tightening his grip.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
