The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 572 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 572

Five days later, two men and two women gathered to play cards at Supreme World. Zach sat opposite Kai, and the two played against each other. The pile of chips in front of Zach grew bigger and bigger, all of which he had won from Kai.

“You don’t seem angry after Ethan kicked you out of Azure Corporation. In fact, how come you even seem happy?”

Zach did not reply. On the other hand, Kai kept on losing one round after another. He had already lost tens of thousands of dollars to Zach and was losing interest in the game.

He felt irritated and wanted to smoke. However, Zach could not stand the smell of cigarettes, so Kai only chewed on his cigarette.

‘How odd. I’ve never once won against him whenever we play each other,’ he thought. Just then, an attendant outside opened the door.

Wincy looked at the various women in the room. Then, she turned to the scantily clad woman practically pressed against Kai and said with slight displeasure, “Why are you looking for me?”

Kai smiled and had a mischievous glint in his eyes, “Come over, baby. Draw a card for me. I need to go to the washroom.”

Wincy did not expect the man to also be here. Zach had always portrayed himself as a person among the elites of society, always acting polite and reserved. However, he seemed to have dropped his act at the moment. His tie was opened loosely, and a few of the buttons of his black shirt were undone.

Kai also rarely saw Zach like this. He thought Zach was so used to putting on an act that he forgot he used to be a Scoundrel”.

Seeing the person in front of him, Zach set down the cards. He sat back and tilted his head while looking at Kai,” Are you trying to make me feel disgusted on purpose?”

Nobody could tell whether his words were directed at Wincy or Kai. After all, Wincy’s face resembled Madelyn’s a lot since Kai had personally operated on her. Moreover, she had coincidentally appeared now that Madelyn was abroad.

Wincy was furious and confronted him, “Who are you calling disgusting? I haven’t settled scores with you about what happened to my brother.”

She kept on getting the same answer no matter how she investigated Randall’s incident. Wincy was currently busy cleaning up the mess at her company, so she did not have the time to further investigate the matter.

Zach took out a cigarette from his pocket and put it in his mouth as the hostess next to him lit the cigarette for him.

He exhaled a puff of cigarette smoke and smirked. He nodded, “If you really want to take revenge, present the evidence. Otherwise, don’t waste my time.”

Zach’s gaze grew icy. He threw his cards onto the table and grabbed a lighter. He grabbed the money that had originally been under the lighter and threw it onto the table.

“Consider this a tip.”

“Thank you, Mr. Jardin,” the two hostesses said. Kai shouted, “Don’t go! I was worried you’d feel alone without Madelyn around, so I asked Wincy to come and entertain you. How will I win back my money if you leave?”

Zach was about to leave but stopped after hearing Kai’s words. For now, he still cared about money. After all, he might have someone to spend his money on in the future. He walked up to Kai and looked at him from the corner of his eyes.

“It’s 61 thousand, inclusive of interest. I’ll have Kevin go pick up the check tomorrow.” “Stop right there! If you’re a real man, set things straight before leaving…”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
