The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 518

Madelyn was lost in thought. ‘Is that so? But why was Zach after him? I don’t think Zach was helping the police; he was clearly trying to kill the man. What kind of grudge does Zach hold against him that he would send Fred to personally go after him?’

Madelyn brought a bouquet of sunflowers with her. She bought them at the florist shop she usually went to, and these were the only flowers left when she went.

Mya’s family was in the room with her, together with Kennedy and Lem. Mya took a bite of apple and another bite of peach.

‘She’s got such a good appetite. It seems like I was worried for nothing,’ she thought. Madelyn felt relieved seeing how Mya was fine. She felt grateful but also guilty toward Mya. Mya immediately spotted Madelyn standing at the door. She shouted in excitement, “Madelyn!”

Ethan did not like crowds, so he and Leyton stood outside and waited for her. Madelyn walked into the ward and saw a couple. For a moment, Madelyn could not tell which parent Mya took after.

Mya’s father spoke, “You must be here for Mya.”

Madelyn nodded.

“Yep.”

“You two can chat. Mya’s father and I are going downstairs to grab something to eat.”

“Alright.”

Mya’s parents walked out of the ward. Madelyn overheard the conversation between the two.

“What does this child eat? She’s good- looking, unlike our Mya, who eats five loaves of bread rolls in a single sitting. She even looks like a bread roll,” whispered Mya’s mother.

Mya’s father replied under his breath, I know, right? Thank goodness we aren’t poor. An average family wouldn’t be able to feed a child like her. Mya immediately frowned, “Mom, Dad, I hear you. Now everyone knows I can eat five loaves of bread rolls.”

Meanwhile, Lem quietly chuckled to himself. The husband and wife quickly left the room. Madelyn sat by Mya’s bed.

“You’d still look cute if you put on some weight.”

Lem could no longer hold in his laughter, “Exactly! An average person wouldn’t be able to stomach five whole bread roll loaves in a single sitting.”

Mya broke into tears and cried out to Madelyn, “Madelyn… They’re making fun of me.” “I’m not the only one laughing. This guy right here is laughing too,” said Lem.

Kennedy-who was always serious and usually unsmiling- -also had a slight smile on his face. He seemed to find the topic amusing.

“They won’t tell anyone,” Madelyn said as she set the bouquet aside. She continued, “You two must be tired after taking care of her the entire night. Why don’t you guys go home and get some rest? I’ll watch her.”

Kennedy took out his phone and glanced at the time. “Sounds good. I’ve got some matters to attend to. Thanks for taking over.”

Lem left with Kennedy. Madelyn chatted with Mya for nearly an hour. A doctor and a nurse came in to check on Mya’s condition. They removed the gauze on Mya’s neck. Her wound had already scabbed over and was healing.

“Overall, she’s healing fine and in good health. She can be discharged after her hospital bills are paid for,” said the doctor. Madelyn replied, “Alright. Thank you, doctor.”

Ethan had already gotten Leyton to pay for the hospital bills. Mya’s father and Ethan chatted while Madelyn went over to open the passenger door for Mya.

“The exams are coming up, so go home and get some rest. If there’s any material you don’t understand, just call me and ask.”

Before Mya left, she gave Madelyn a tight hug.

“Madelyn… Don’t forget to come visit me in the future. I’ll miss much.” you very “I will,” Madelyn promised. Madelyn watched them leave, but she still felt worried. Ethan walked over and held her hand.

“If you’re still worried, we can pay the Harper family a visit after this.”

“We’d better not disturb Mya…”

Just as they were about to leave, they saw a black car. Zach emerged from the car and helped Jadie out. Jadie looked haggard and gaunt as she leaned weakly on Zach with her arm wrapped in a towel.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
