The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 497 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 497

“Don’t you think it’s too early for wedding dress shopping, Ethan? We’re not even engaged yet,” Madelyn asked.

Ethan replied gently, “Nah, it’s never too early for that. Getting engaged and married is just a matter of time.”

The manager noticed something was up between them and gave a friendly smile. “Miss Jent has a point. She’s still growing. If we order the dress now, it might not fit later, and that wouldn’t be good for the big day. How about we wait until you set a wedding date before we go dress shopping?”

Ethan ran his thumb along the back of Madelyn’s hand, thought for a moment, and said, “That sounds like a plan. Let’s wait for your father to get here today, finalize the wedding details, and then we can go find that perfect dress.”

Madelyn beamed, “Sounds good to me! Meanwhile, Kevin knocked on the door and walked into Mr. Zach Jardin’s office at Azure Corporation. “Mr. Jardin, there are some papers that need your signature for the construction costs.”

Zach glanced at the documents and signed them without looking up. Kevin continued, “Mr. Jent is coming back today, just as you instructed. Everything in the Jent residence is set. We’ve hired eight new servants, including a nutritionist, to take care of Mrs. Jent’s needs. I’ve got all their profiles here.”

Zach replied without lifting his head, ” You don’t need to show me those.”

“Could you run me through my schedule?”

“Sure thing. In two hours, you’ve got a meeting about that new project in Alma. Then, at around six tonight, there’s a dinner with our partners in the development project, and the guest of honor is Mr. Webster from Wave Corp.

“As for the Regal Corporation issue, well, Randall Burton, who used to own most of their shares, passed away. His funeral was yesterday, and his shares have been transferred to your other identity. Right now, Regal Corporation doesn’t have a leader. According to our investigation, Randall’s sister, Wincy Burton, who has an MBA, has come back from Australia to take charge temporarily.

“Before Randall passed and his shares were transferred, it seems Wincy became suspicious of something. She’s looking into the cause of her brother’s death and…about your identity.”

Just then, Kevin’s phone buzzed with a message alert. He checked it, and his expression changed a bit. “Mr. Jardin, the new CEO of Regal Corporation,

Wincy Burton, wants to meet with you.”

“Wincy Burton?” Zach put down his pen, drummed his fingers on the desk, and leaned back in his chair. “What do we know about her?”

“Here’s her file.”

Zach, sporting gold-rimmed glasses and black shirt sleeves rolled up to reveal his muscular arms with prominent veins, casually flipped open a page with a photo on it. His gaze grew more intense as he studied it.

Kevin filled in the details, “Randall might have had a shady reputation, but he was always good to his sister.

They’ve been there for each other since their parents passed away when they were young. Considering her brother’s death, Wincy Burton is not likely to let it slide easily.”

Suddenly, the receptionist’s voice came, “I’m sorry, Miss Burton, but without an appointment, you can’t go in. Mr. Jardin isn’t in his office.”

“Move out of my way.” With a swift motion, the office door swung open with a loud crash. A tall woman dressed in flowing chiffon clothes and sporting sunglasses entered the room.

The security guard, clearly shaken, stammered, “I’m sorry, Mr. Jardin. I couldn’t stop her.”

Zach waved his hand dismissively. “No worries. You can go.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
