The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 491

Donna’s TV interview caused quite a stir in Ventropolis. People were talking about it everywhere. The reporter asked, “Ms. Jolie, you’ve known Ethan Arnold, the CEO of Arnold Corporation, for a long time. Why didn’t you two get together later on? Were there reasons for this?”

Donna said, “Indeed, there were reasons…”

Donna on TV looked tired. She seemed different from her usual glamorous self. Now, she looked like someone who needed help from others. The PR department quickly told Ethan about this.

People were sitting in front of their TVs, eager to hear what Donna would say next. But suddenly, the live broadcast was cut off. The screen turned all fuzzy, and nobody could see anything, “What a buzzkill! Why did they cut it off?”

“Who knows! If the CEO really liked her, why did he get engaged to someone else?” “Poor Donna. They were together for so long, and now they’ve broken up. Maybe someone got in the way?”

At Ventropolis News, some men in black suits came in without saying a word. They wrecked the whole office and even cut off the power. The scared staff huddled in a corner, too scared to move.

Security guards stepped aside, and Leyton walked into the room where Donna was being interviewed. Through the glass, he saw her sitting there. He pushed the door open, and Donna looked at him. She calmly stood up and said, “Long time no see, Mr. Spear.

Why are you here alone? I thought Ethan would come himself.” Leyton’s face got serious as he looked at the reporter next to him. “Leave us.”

The reporter quickly left the room. Leyton glared at Donna. “I thought I told you what Mr. Arnold wanted. You should know what to do if you’re smart, Ms. Jolie. This will only make you look bad.”

Donna didn’t seem to care. She looked at her nails and said, “So what? As long as I reach my goal. Ethan didn’t come this time, but tell him from me, we’re not done. He can forget about marrying anyone else.” She then grabbed her bag, ready to leave.

But Leyton blocked her path with his hand. “Ms. Jolie, spreading stories about your connection with the CEO of Arnold Corporation has harmed the company’s reputation. We’ve already reported it to the police. Under the law, sharing false information can lead to at least three years in jail.”

Donna stared at Leyton in disbelief.” Spreading false information?” “Yes,” Leyton replied calmly. “Mr. Arnold gave you a chance. If you had behaved differently, none of this would be happening. But your actions have crossed a line. The police will be here in ten minutes, and you’ll spend some time behind bars before Ethan’s engagement to Miss Jent.”

Donna burst into hysterical laughter.” Hahaha… What an incredible story. When Ethan was on his knees, begging me not to leave, he didn’t act like this. I won’t believe a word you say now. Either bring him here to talk to me, or move out of my way and let me go.”

Leyton replied, “Things have changed, Ms. Jolie. We’re not in the past anymore. It’s time to deal with the situation.”

Right at that moment, a group of police officers arrived. Donna couldn’t believe that Ethan had taken things this far.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
