The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 490

“Thanks,” Madelyn replied. Kennedy interjected, “These notes won’t really help you. Like Mr. Newton says, practice more, and if you don’t get it, just ask.”

“Okay.” The bell for the next class rang. But Madelyn had her own secret plans. She believed there was more than one way to reach her goal. What she was doing, she did for herself.

As soon as the first class ended, Madelyn sneaked away to the same spot she’d been visiting a lot lately. ‘I can make it happen in a month…’

“Engaged? Wishful thinking,” Zach muttered as he ripped the newspaper in his hand, tearing the picture of Ethan and Madelyn right down the middle.

“Where’s Donna Jolie?” he asked. Kevin replied, “She’s doing what you told her. We should catch the news this afternoon. But Donna shelled out a lot to hire a hacker to trace our last phone call. She wants to figure out who’s pulling the strings behind the scenes.”

Zach removed his gold-rimmed glasses, leaned back, and crossed his left leg over the right one. “Let her play detective if she wants.”

He had always been good at planning and reading people. Some folks, unless nudged a bit, would never spill their secrets. He thought, ‘It’s also a chance to teach Madelyn, who’s grown up sheltered, that the real world isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. If she wants to venture out, I’ll allow it, but only in my circle of influence.’

He mused, ‘Leaving this house by finding someone to lean on? Well, it isn’t as easy as she thinks. Some lessons need to be learned the hard way.

With this in mind, Zach inquired, ” How’s that investigation into Donna’s overseas activities I assigned you a while back?”

Kevin nodded, looking more serious. ” We got a lead. Our local underworld contacts came through. Donna took this pic in a studio six months ago, and… she had company.”

Zach picked up a photo, his eyes momentarily clouding, then a smirk danced on his lips. “Looks like Madelyn will be heading home soon. Kevin asked, “Should we release these photos now?”

Zach tilted his head, tapping his temple lazily. “Not yet. It’s too soon.” Then he directed Kevin, “Go change the locks at the Jent residence again and tidy up all the rooms. Make sure everything’s just as it was.”

He thought, ‘Family should always stick together, right, my little princess? Suddenly, Madelyn felt a sharp, needle- like pain in her chest, along with a sense of panic. Her grip on the paintbrush slipped, and it clattered to the floor.

She clutched her chest, growing increasingly anxious, struggling to breathe. ‘What’s going on?’

Breaking news: [Ethan Arnold’s previous mysterious absence from the public eye was no vacation, but the result of a car crash. Our investigation delves into the crash’s cause and interviews key witnesses.] “Hi, I’m Donna Jolie…”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
