The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 459 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 459

The night’s rain was very cold. Madelyn draped a scarf over herself before going downstairs.
Margaret turned on the lights downstairs.

In the darkness, they saw a man dragging his weary body, walking very slowly. Madelyn’s
pupils suddenly contracted. And without any hesitation, she rushed into the rain. Margaret
quickly took an umbrella hanging by the entrance and followed her.

Madelyn’s clothes were soaked with the rain. She tightly frowned and asked, “What’s wrong?
It’s so late. Why aren’t you home? Why aren’t you using an umbrella when it’s raining now?
Where’s Leyton?”

Madelyn was worried when she saw his disheveled appearance. She felt a lump in her throat.
Ethan moved his lips slightly and fell onto Madelyn’s body. It seemed as if he had used the
last bit of his strength to hold her tightly. The cold raindrops on his black hair dripped onto the
fair skin of Madelyn’s neck. She leaned back slightly and gently patted Ethan’s back, “Ethan?”

Margaret worriedly muttered, “Oh my goodness, he fainted.”
Madelyn quickly helped him to the couch in the living room. She said, “Ro… Margaret, please
boil some hot water and get a clean set of clothes from Zach’s room.”

Margaret was quick on her foot, “Oh, okay, okay…”
Madelyn’s clothes were partially wet too. She removed the scarf and noticed a fresh blood
stain on one side. Her heart skipped a beat as she thought, ‘Where did this blood stain come from?‘

As she unbuttoned his coat jacket, she noticed the tattoo on his neck had been removed.
There were several scars on different parts of his body, some of which were bleeding.

She did not have the time to overthink. She was afraid that Ethan might really be in trouble.
After she removed his last shirt, she covered her mouth in shock. Her heart was pounding
extremely fast. She was extremely shocked by what she saw.

His upper body was covered in injuries. The skin from his neck to his fingertips was all marked
with what looked like burns. Madelyn thought, ‘What in the world had happened to him?‘
Margaret acted quickly and put aside the clothes she took from upstairs. When she saw
Ethan, she was also frightened, “Oh my goodness, what happened to this man?

Ms. Jent, maybe we should call an ambulance immediately.”
She then reached out to touch Ethan’s forehead, “He has a fever. What should we do?”
Madelyn took quite some time to regain composure, “I–I’ll make the call now.”
Margaret asked, “What about the clothes?”

Madelyn replied, “You can put them on for him.”
Margaret looked hesitant, “Isn’t that inappropriate?! What if he wakes up and accuses me of
taking advantage of him? Ms. Jent, I think you should change them for him! After all, he’s your
ex–boyfriend. I’ll go boil some water.”

Margaret immediately walked away. Madelyn had no choice but to wait for her to come back.
She tried to dial for an ambulance on the phone on the coffee table. But the call could not get
through after many tries. She then noticed that there was no signal on the phone. It was likely
due to the rain.
Madelyn was in a dilemma. In the end, she decided to take him upstairs to a room. Madelyn
and Margaret, with great difficulty, finally managed to move him onto the bed. Despite all the
disturbance, Ethan did not wake up.

Madelyn looked at Margaret and said, “Margaret, the hot water is ready. Bring me some
antipyretic.”
Margaret nodded, “Okay.”

After Margaret left, only Madelyn and Ethan were in the room. She turned up the heating.
Ethan had injuries on his upper body. So, Madelyn did not put a shirt on him. She had to apply
medicine to the injuries.

She was very good at taking care of a sick person. In her past life, when Zach was drunk or hospitalized due to illness, she had always taken care of him. He would not allow anyone to get near him other than those close to him. She gradually got used to this over time. To prevent and be able to deal with different unexpected situations, Madelyn even read many nursing books.

Madelyn used tissues to carefully dry the areas on his body in which the tattoos were removed, which got wet from the rain. She then applied medicine to those areas to prevent infection.

When she held his hand, she noticed the scar was bleeding. She was very gentle in her movements. She thought, ‘He seemed just fine during dinner last night. Why did he do something like this?‘

Madelyn lowered her eyes. There was little expression on her delicate, attractive face. She
just quietly tended to Ethan’s.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
