The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 458

Margaret looked at Madelyn’s back as she muttered, “Where else can I find such a good household?”
She loved eating. This was her first time eating dill and abalone in the Jent residence. She had not tried those foods before. But she thought her husband would enjoy eating them if she brought them home.

However, Margaret would always get permission before bringing any food back home. She would never steal. Margaret switched off the lights in the living room. Before she went upstairs, she grabbed a
plate of washed strawberries. Those that she took for herself to eat were slightly rotten.

She had already fetched those good ones to Madelyn’s room. She thought, ‘That poor kid is
suffering. She’s all alone in such a big house. This must feel so lifeless for her. Yes, this house
is comfortable for her, but it doesn’t feel like a home.

After Margaret went back to her room, she thought about something. She hurriedly called
Rosario. It took her three tries to get through, “Hi Rosario, Ms. Jent came back and asked me
to call you. Don’t worry; she’s doing fine now! When are you coming back? I miss you so much.”

Rosario coughed, “Ahem, ahem, ahem…”
Margaret exclaimed worriedly, “Oh my goodness. Why are you coughing? Are you sick? Are
you feeling better?”

Rosario’s voice was weak as she said, “It’s just my usual health problem. It’s good that she’s
doing fine. Please take good care of her for me. Thank you so much.”
Margaret responded softly, “What are you talking about? It’s all thanks to you for introducing
me to her. I have such a good job now. I’ll go to the hospital to visit you tomorrow…”

The night was quiet. Madelyn walked out of the bathroom and displayed her first award.
Suddenly, the words that Ethan wrote in her exercise book appeared in her mind, ‘There
would be no rainbows without sunshine and rain…

‘It seems like I’ve achieved that now…‘
Madelyn did not blame Ethan for making his choice. She was lost in her thoughts, ‘If I were
Ethan, it’d be hard for me to move on too. After all, she’s indeed unique to him.

‘Everyone has a past that they can’t forget. I’ve never regretted being in a relationship with
him. He’s a good man. But we aren’t destined to be together.‘
Madelyn got into bed. She took a few white pills before leaving a bedside lamp on and lying
down to sleep.

At three in the morning, Madelyn had a dream. She dreamt of her mother sitting by her
bedside with her hand caressing her face. Her mother said, “You’re very strong and brave.
You’ve moved on from your sufferings.”

Madelyn asked her mother in a quiet voice, “But… Why do I still feel so hurt? Mom… Can you
tell me what I should do next?”
Madelyn’s mother answered, “From now on, you’ll have to go through life on your own.”
Madelyn panicked, “Mom, where are you going?”

Madelyn’s mother replied warmly, “It’s time for me to go.”
That dark figure passed through the door and disappeared gradually. “Mom!” Madelyn woke up with a lot of sweat. She immediately sat up and checked the time. It was only three–thirty in the morning.

She stretched her hand to turn on the light. She realized her vision was blurry because of her
tears. She felt extremely sad. The room was very quiet. There was not any sound at all. A sense of desolation and loneliness overwhelmed her.

She then heard a loud clap of thunder. She hurriedly got up to close the windows. Suddenly, a
strong wind blew from outside, lifting the curtains.
Just at this moment, someone knocked on the door urgently and said, “Ms. Jent, there’s a
problem.

Quickly go downstairs and take a look. When I heard the thunder just now, I wanted
to go to the yard to collect the clothes. But I saw someone outside. It was too dark, so I
couldn’t see clearly. I was afraid it might be a ghost. So, I didn’t dare to open the door.”
Margaret was scared and flustered.

Madelyn closed the windows before opening her door. She looked at the anxious Margaret
and said, “There’s no ghost in this world. I’ll go down to take a look”.

Outside the door, a person stumbled toward the villa. The pain in that person’s legs was so
painful that they could not support their body…

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
