The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 457

Ethan said, “Leyton, take her back to Prilo.” Prilo was a small town about a hundred miles away from Ventropolis. It was Donna’s hometown. It would take about two to three hours by car to get there.
Leyton hesitated, “But, Mr. Arnold, you…”

“I know what I’m doing,” Ethan said before getting out of the car. When Donna also tried to get
out, Leyton locked the door. Donna cried so much that she ruined her makeup. She clenched
her fingernails tightly against the car window and said, ” Ethan, you bastard! Back then, you
asked me to stay by your side forever. But now you don’t want me. You’re a liar.”
Ethan remained silent.

Donna continued, “Ethan, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have left you. That car crash was just an
accident. I didn’t expect it’d make you become like this. I’ll spend my whole life making it up to
you from now on, okay? Let’s not separate again. I beg you… Don’t send me back!
“I’ll go crazy without you!” Donna repeatedly hit the car window and said, “Leyton, open the
door! I want to get out!”

Leyton opened the partition between the front and back seats, allowing Donna to scream. He
remained unmoved. Initially, Ethan planned to say what he told her only after that. But a voice in his head told him it had been long enough. It told him that if he did not get her back soon, his girl would be gone for good.

He thought, ‘What can I do even if I give in? I can’t live without her!‘
It was not past nine o’clock yet. At a tattoo shop, a girl about sixteen or seventeen with
dreadlocks was chewing gum as she looked at the handsome man in front of her. His bare
arm was covered in tattoos.

She raised her eyebrow as she said, “Hey, handsome. Are you sure you want to completely remove them all at once? Don’t take this lightly. I’d recommend you do it in several sessions. Otherwise, the wounds from removing such a large area of tattoos all at once can easily get infected. And with this much work, I’m afraid I’ll be removing your tattoos until tomorrow.”

‘I have to admit, he has an impressive physique,‘ she thought before saying, “Actually, you
look quite good with those tattoos…”

Ethan took out several thick stacks of money from his wallet. There was at least over a
thousand dollars. This was equivalent to her several months of salary.
She thought she would be a fool not to take the money.

She said, “Lay down. It might hurt a little. Bear with it.” The girl then pulled a chair and sat
beside him. She started removing the tattoos on the back of his hand. She gently touched his
hand as she said, “Did you have scars here? It seems like there are a lot. Mister, how did you
get them?”

“I got injured,” Ethan responded as he stared at the ceiling painted with colorful paint and the
glaring lights. He actually had many scars, big and small, on his body. Some of them were left by his mother when she was drunk. These scars had been with him for over a decade. Some of the scars were from the car accident.

Back then, he asked Donna to tattoo him. He wanted to have tattoos just like her because he
wanted to cover his scars with them. He thought since he had decided to start anew, he
should not keep those tattoos.

When the girl with the dreadlocks noticed the scars on his body, she realized Ethan seemed to
have many secrets. But she did not ask him about it. She just continued to work carefully.
Madelyn went back to the Southern Haven Villas.

Margaret prepared supper for Madelyn. She said, “Ms. Jent, Mr. Jardin came today. He
stopped his car at the gate. But I just kept quiet inside this villa. He left after just a short while.
My guess is that he probably didn’t enter the correct password.”

“Okay. I’m not eating supper, so you can have some. I can’t eat this much myself. I’ll go
upstairs to rest now.” Margaret nodded, “All right then. Rest well, Ms. Jent.”

Ever since Margaret was the only servant left in this house, Madelyn had her move from the
tiny servant’s room to a guest room on the fourth floor. Madelyn thought there were too many
unoccupied rooms anyway.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
