The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 412

“Mr. Arnold.” Ethan looked up with a dark expression, “What?” “There are some documents that require your signature.”

“Leave them on the table for now.” Leyton placed the documents on the table and unintentionally saw Ethan’s phone screen. He had Madelyn’s contact card open.

‘Could Mr. Arnold be upset because of Ms. Jent? I don’t think anyone else could make him as emotional other than her. He could just call her if he misses her. There’s no need for him to stay upset with her for this long. Unless… the two of them had a fight,’ thought Leyton. “Anything else?” Ethan asked in a displeased tone.

Leyton replied, “I’m not sure if I should say it.”

“Spit it out!” “Mr. Arnold, the entire senior management is on the edge because of Ms. Jent. I don’t think you should bring your personal matters to work, sir,” Leyton said calmly.

Ethan smirked. He gave Leyton a frosty and annoyed look, “Are you teaching me how to do my job? I’m giving you your paycheck, not the other way around. If you’re done, get out.”

“My apologies, Mr. Arnold. But I must finish what I have to say for the company’s sake. Ms. Jolie’s existence is inevitably a ticking time bomb now that she’s returned to Venturia. Ms. Jent doesn’t know about her for now. But when she does learn about you and Ms. Jolie’s history and that you two haven’t completely cut ties, she’ll have qualms about it, even if she seems indifferent. It’s better for you to be honest with her. Otherwise, it’ll be too late when the time comes.”

late when the time comes.” Ethan’s gaze turned dark and menacing. “I don’t need you teaching me how to handle my personal affairs. Scram!” Ethan roared.

He grabbed the documents and hurled them at Leyton. However, Leyton did not dodge, causing the papers to leave a small cut on his forehead.

This was the first time Ethan returned to his previous volatile and irritable state after a long time. It was as if he had returned to the easily angered and self-destructive state he had in the past.

Leyton nodded and walked out, shutting the door behind him. Ethan pressed a button and locked the door. Just as Leyton was about to leave, a person with glasses and thick bangs clumsily bumped into him. The person apologized profusely, ” Sorry.”

When she lifted her head and saw it was Leyton, she widened her eyes and lowered her head again, “Sorry. I’m so sorry, Mr. Spear. I… I didn’t see you.”

Leyton simply replied coolly, “Mr. Arnold is in a bad mood right now. Don’t go in there.” “But the manager said these financial reports are really important and require Mr. Arnold’s signature immediately.”

“Are you new here?”

“Yep. My name’s April May.” “What a unique name,” Leyton chuckled. He continued, “Let me take a look at the report.”

Leyton flipped through the report and frowned. Then, he looked at the girl in front of him. “The report can wait till next week. If your manager says anything, ask him to come to me.”

“Oh, okay!” “I’m only helping you this time. Next time, be more careful. You won’t always be this lucky.”

April was confused. She did not know what he was referring to. However, she obediently took the report back to the finance department. 8 o’clock quickly came, and there was only half an hour left before school ended.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
