The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 413 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 413

Madelyn stared at her phone screen. ‘Should I tell him I won’t be going home tonight?’ she wondered. Madelyn was tired.

‘What are we right now? If Ethan can’t forget about Donna and remain in contact with her, why is he with me? Is it to spite Donna for her abrupt departure back then? I’m not their tool, she thought again.

Madelyn could not stand Ethan’s betrayal. However, she was worried she would face what she had predicted if she left the Arnold residence and returned to the Jent residence. She would fall back into Zach’s hands and be humiliated by him.

Right now, Madelyn only had two choices: play dumb and continue going to school while receiving the Arnold family’s protection, or break up with Ethan and return to her harsh, former life at the Jent residence.

Madelyn already knew her answer after considering all this. School ended at eight-thirty. A familiar car punctually pulled over outside of the school.

Madelyn went to the backseat, and someone was already sitting there. He had Bluetooth earphones on and a laptop propped on his lap. He seemed to be in a meeting. Seeing this, Madelyn did not interrupt him and gently closed the door.

The two were still giving each other the silent treatment. By the time Ethan left his meeting, Madelyn had already fallen asleep.

Ethan was actually distracted throughout his meeting. He was completely focused on Madelyn; he barely registered anything from the meeting and hastily ended it. He took his gray blazer and put it over Madelyn. She woke up and found herself gazing into the man’s eyes.

He gave off an unwelcoming feeling no matter how she looked at him. In the past, she even found his tattoos benign and gentle. However, she now found it a little scary.

Madelyn quickly snapped out of it and grabbed the blazer that was about to slip off. “Thank you,” she said. She immediately felt the man turn frostier the moment she thanked him.

“You’re welcome.” Ethan hated how detached she was when she thanked him. He sat back. Leyton glanced at the two from the rearview mirror. He could tell the two had fought. He had actually foreseen this day would come if Ethan did not address those issues.

‘As long as Donna is between Mr. Arnold and Ms. Jent, the two will never have peace,’ he thought. They only exchanged a single sentence when they arrived at the Arnold residence.

Madelyn got out of the car and held Ethan’s blazer in one hand and her book in the other. She felt the weight of his gaze on her back and did not know what to say. She handed his blazer to the servant waiting at the entrance.

Just as she was about to go upstairs, she spottedthe old lady sitting on the couch. “I’ve been waiting for you. Come over and help me find out why this cinnamon oatmeal doesn’t taste right.”

“I’ll have a taste,” Madelyn said as she walked over. A servant handed her a clean spoon. Madelyn tasted the oatmeal and said, It’s just right. Do you find it too bland? Or is it too sweet?”

Evelyn shook her head. “There’s only oatmeal and cinnamon in here, but I’m tasting something else. It doesn’t taste right.” Madelyn stirred the mixture and saw shredded coconut at the bottom of the pot.

“I see some shredded coconut in here. Someone must’ve accidentally added them. I’ll make you another pot if you don’t like it.”

“This pot of oatmeal will be wasted if I don’t eat it!” Evelyn said, hinting at something else. She looked at Madelyn and then at Ethan, who was beside her.

“Oh well. So be it. Mixing other things into it will ruin my appetite.” Madelyn smiled, “I can make you some pastina if you’re hungry?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
