The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 405

Before this, the people from the same school did not really care about Madelyn being with Ethan. But the situation last night gained a lot of attention. More and more people were paying attention to her. In the past, no one in the school would care about Madelyn.

Madelyn understood Ethan was concerned about her and wanted her to go home early. However, she did not want this special treatment. She did not want any rules to change because of her. She merely wanted to finish her remaining academic term in peace.

At the school gate, she noticed flashes of camera lights directed toward her. She was being photographed. Several reporters rushed to her and pointed their microphones at her, “Ms. Jent, can you tell us when you started dating the CEO of the Arnold Corporation?”

“The CEO of the Arnold Corporation never appears in public. When did you two meet?” “Last night, the CEO of the Arnold Corporation caused such a big commotion just to find you. Where did you go?”

Madelyn remained silent. She had never faced such a scene before. The crowd walked closer to her. She was bombarded by questions. And suddenly, she could not breathe properly. Jadie was pushed aside. Only Mya stood in front of Madelyn.

She said, “What are you all doing? Don’t come any closer. Quickly get out of our way.” The reporter asked, “Talk to us, Ms. Jent,” Other reporters chimed in, “That’s right.”

“Everyone!” A strong, powerful voice silenced the clamor. When people turned around to look at the man behind them and noticed his air of authority, they quieted down and made way for him.

Madelyn’s face was pale. She had never experienced something like this before. Ethan and Hayson rarely faced interviews by reporters, too.

That man was Zach. Madelyn stared blankly at him as he walked toward her. She felt like she had traveled through time the moment she saw him. She thought she saw the figures of Zach from her past life and her current life overlapped. The memory from her past life suddenly resurfaced in her mind.

Madelyn could not remember the exact year, month, or day, but it was the second year of her marriage to Zach. At that time, to outsiders, Zach and Madelyn were an affectionate couple.

Zach would occasionally take her to events. Everyone knew she was his legitimate wife. It was also during that time that she first learned about Zach’s mistress. Worse yet, he had been keeping the mistress for three years.

She remembered the sky at that time was as dark as it is now. It was drizzling. Zach was driving through the city with a starlet who looked like Jadie. Someone took a picture of them and posted it online. It became a trending topic within half an hour.

So, Madelyn went to Zach’s company to make a scene. She saw that woman sitting on his lap. Zach explained that the girl had accidentally fallen. However, Madelyn did not believe him.

She caused quite a scene at the CEO’s office. Zach then lost his patience with her. So, he had security throw her out of the company building.

The reporters outside the building happened to witness that scene. Madelyn went crazy when the reporters asked her questions. She then went on to hit them…

Ever since then, her marriage with Zach suffered significant damage beyond repair. When she suggested a divorce, Zach imprisoned her in a cage made of gold while he fooled around with other women….

Madelyn was lost in the memories of her past life. She could not clearly hear what Zach said to the reporters. Zach then grabbed her wrist and shoved her into the car. Jadie sat in the front passenger seat.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
