The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1326

StartReading Literary was the last place Cecilia wanted to be. But she made an exception this time.

Olivia had just finalized a cooperative copyright deal with another website company. Several editors from her own company were there at StartReading Literary. As she entered the office, she saw all the editors from StartReading Literary sitting upright, not daring to make a sound.

She also saw her office door was wide open. She frowned as she walked into her office and was surprised to see an unexpected gust.

Olivia put down the documents in her hand. “Ms. Samford, what brings you here?”

With her legs crossed and Susan standing behind her, Cecilia stared at Olivia, who was in front of her.

Cecilia sneered and stood up. She ran her fingers along the desk. ”

StartReading is actually the last place I want to be. I came here because I found out that you enjoy meddling in other people’s affairs. Otherwise, you wouldn’t even qualify to see me.”

Olivia instantly looked wary. She remained silent as she listened to Cecilia’s sharp tone.

The office door was still open, and every word that Cecilia said just now was heard by the editors outside. However, they feigned to be busy with their work and pretended not to hear anything.

Olivia responded, “I don’t understand what you mean.”

Cecilia chuckled, but her eyes were cold. Her smile was clearly insincere. ” It’s okay if you don’t understand, but I want to discuss some company matters with you.

“You took advantage of my hands-off approach to StartReading and used your authority to bring illegal profits to your own company, totaling up to fifty million dollars. This includes the fees for signing multiple film and television copyrights, all of which have gone into your pocket.

“It must feel satisfying to bring profits for your own company from Jardin Corporation.

“Of course, this amount of money is merely the cost of a set of my jewelry.”

Olivia replied, “Ms. Samford, I’ve followed the company’s normal process regarding business cooperation. I recommended companies to our partners, who selected the cooperation copyrights. I didn’t get involved in it.”

Cecilia responded, “Is that so? Jardin Corporation has already investigated it. Recently, two transactions of tens of millions of dollars have been deposited into your bank account. I’ll have the public relations department and legal department investigate the source of this money, which was obtained using resources from Jardin Corporation.

“If you’ve obtained this money through your position, not only will I demand you return it, but I’ll also deal with you using legal means.”

Olivia glared at Cecilia furiously. “Are you targeting me deliberately?”

Cecilia smiled. “Targeting you? Are you even worthy of being targeted by me? I don’t even care about Madelyn, let alone someone like you.

“However, I can give you a chance this time. Resign and return all the illegally obtained money using Jardin Corporation’s resources, and I’ll pretend this never happened.”

Olivia firmly denied it. “I have integrity and have been honest. I haven’t done anything wrong. So, why should I give in? I can leave right now if you’re just trying to force me to resign.

“But, Ms. Samford, you can look at the financial statement for this period. The profits during this time have increased by thirty percent compared to previous profits. I believe you should be able to tell if I’ve done my job well.”

Cecilia had not seen someone as righteous and daring to confront her as Olivia in a long time.

The last person who did this had already closed off opportunities for themselves.

Cecilia responded, “I won’t kick you out. It’s best if you have the guts to continue staying here. I’d like to see how long you can keep up this defiance!

Susan followed Cecilia out of the office. She was puzzled. “Ms. Samford, we clearly have the most favorable evidence. Why do we still want to keep her in the company?”

Cecilia ambiguously smiled as madness filled her eyes. “Don’t you find it interesting? I’m not used to having no one going against me.

“Anyway, how are Blake and Liam doing now?”

Susan responded, “Blake has already returned to the Harper residence. They’ve also canceled their flight abroad.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
