The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1283

Kai rarely lost his cool. He pondered, ‘ Since when did Zach’s relationship with Fred become so good?

‘From what I remember, Fred is merely his subordinate.’

At Ventropolis Prison, Mya’s stomach felt uncomfortable. She held it as she rolled on the bed in pain. The servant beside her was holding medicine in her hands. “Mr. Turner, Ms. Harper isn’t feeling well and refuses to take the medicine.”

Fred walked in from outside and took off his coat. The servant then took it and hung it on the rack. His black boots made powerful sounds when he walked. He said, “What are you doing?”

Mya pouted her buttocks and buried her face in the pillow, covering her stomach. When she saw Fred, she fearfully behaved herself and sat properly. She was wearing a loose yellow sleeping gown with a ruffled collar. She rubbed her round belly.” Fred, I think I’m pregnant. Look, it’s getting big.”

Fred’s gaze turned cold. “Did you take the medicine last night?”

Mya innocently looked at him. “I did. Touch my belly and feel if there’s a baby in it. I think I’m really pregnant.”

Fred inserted his hand into Mya’s gown and placed it on her belly in front of the servants. Her sexy underwear was exposed, but they were used to this kind of scene. Fred said, “The chef here is quite skilled. I’ve only been away for a few days, and you’ve gained quite a bit of weight.”

One of the servants lowered her eyes to suppress the panic in her gaze before quietly leaving.

Fred stretched his hand and said. “Give me the medicine.”

The servant handed over the dark color medicine. Fred brought it close to his nose and sniffed. “What’s it for?”

The servant stammered. After some time, another servant stepped forward, saying, “This is the digestive aid medicine prescribed for Ms. Harper. She had quite a bit of late-night snacks yesterday and didn’t eat much this morning. We were worried she might have digestive problems, so we had a doctor to examine her.”

Fred asked, “Did the doctor find anything wrong?”

The servant answered, “Ms. Harper is very healthy. She just tends to gain weight easily and is a bit weak. Also, her old head injury still needs some time to heal.”

Fred frowned upon hearing about Mya’s old injury. “No one could find a way to treat it when I was away?”

The servant responded, “Her head injury is permanent and requires long- term treatment.”

Fred said to Mya, “Open your mouth and take the medicine.”

Mya looked at Fred with her big eyes before glancing at the medicine. Disgusted, she shook her head. “I’m not taking it. It smells awful, just like you.”

Only Mya dared to speak so bluntly in the entire Ventropolis Prison.

She grabbed Fred’s hand. “Blake is getting married. I can eat nice food again and want to be a bridesmaid. When are you going to let me go back?”

Fred repeated, “Take the medicine.”

Mya had been with Fred for quite a while. She might seem silly, but she was not. She was very good at pleasing people, and she excelled at gauging Fred’s mood.

She asked, “Can I go home after taking the medicine?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
