The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1246

The lights at the end of the corridor flickered. Blake and Kai were sitting on the hospital bench when she asked, “If I come clean to you later, will you help me, Dr. Stewart?”

Coincidentally, a nurse came out of the delivery room and told Kai, “Dr. Stewart, your wife’s cervix has opened around four centimeters. She should be in labor at five in the morning.”

Kai stood up and nodded, “Okay. Thank you very much.”

The nurse gave him some simple instructions since everyone at the hospital knew Kai was famous in the medical field and that he worked at a medical research institute. Every doctor wanted to become as brilliant as he was.

Then, the nurse left. With their previous conversation interrupted, Blake pursed her lips and struggled to restart it. After she saw Kai walk in, she had no choice but to wait outside. Kai saw Lana lying on the bed and started coaxing her gently.

At that very moment, Blake completely recollected who this woman was. She was the wife of the Stewart family’s heir, Andrew Stewart.

Andrew was the gentlest person Blake had ever met. She met him at a gathering a few years ago. She could feel her restless heartbeat whenever she saw him, but it would calm down whenever she went near him.

Andrew was the ideal man for so many Ventropolis women. Sadly, he married young and broke so many young women’s hearts.

‘Kai…’ Blake thought while attempting to calm down. She could deduce what their relationship was.

‘What the hell happened in the Stewart family? Why is Lana together with her brother-in-law?’ She thought.

Since Lana had started to feel her labor pains, she was drenched in sweat. Her face was pale as she leaned into Kai’s embrace. However, Blake could hear her call him by Andrew’s name.

“Andrew, if you’re busy, you should go. I’m much better now. The baby is behaving. I’ll be fine,” Lana told Kai.

Blake was outside the door and did not enter. She smiled at Lana and nodded her head. Kai did not bother with her and just focused on comforting Lana, ” No need to worry, it’ll be fine. I’ll keep you company for a while. What you need to do now is to keep up your strength. Do you want to eat anything? I’ll buy it for you.”

Lana said, “I just want to eat the pastina from Church Avenue.”

Kai obliged, “Sure. I’ll help you get it.”

Blake went up and offered herself, “Let me go. I have time. Do you have anything you can’t consume, Mrs. Stewart?”

Lana looked at Kai for help. He smiled and answered for her, “Nothing spicy. Anything else is fine.”

Blake nodded and said, “Sure. I’ll be going now.”

After Lana saw Blake leave, she asked softly, “She came here for Madelyn, right?

“Did something happen, Andrew? I remember you were good friends with the CEO of Jardin Corporation. Why don’t we help her as much as we can?” Lana continued asking.

Kai lowered his gaze and said, “It’s not that I don’t want to help, but it’s not time yet.

“This was all his choice,” Kai added.

Lana was confused and asked, “What choice?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
