The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1245

‘How come?’ Blake thought.

Blake knew she remembered correctly since she dirtied her dress the last time she was at the banquet. She had borrowed Lana’s skirt, and that was three years ago. Lana must not have recognized her.

Blake immediately regained her senses and asked, “Dr. Stewart, where are you going? I drove my car here today. Why don’t I give you guys a ride?”

Lana wanted to say something but was brought away from Kai by the guards. Kai did not even want to bother with her.

“She looks like she’s looking for you. Why don’t we ask what she wants?” As Lana finished speaking, she felt a huge pain coming from her abdomen. She screamed, “Ah! My belly!”

“Andrew, I feel like I’m going to give birth soon! My belly hurts!” Lana shouted.

Kai saw the fluid flowing between Lana’s legs and panicked. Suddenly, he heard the sound of wheels screeching as Blake suddenly drove her car over and told him, “Dr. Stewart, get her in the car quickly. I’ll send you to the hospital.”

Kai had no choice but to carry Lana, whose water had broken. They sat in the car. To soothe Lana, Blake put on some calming music.

“Which hospital are we going to, Dr. Stewart?” Blake asked.

Kai said, “Vanguard Hospital.”

The Vanguard Hospital was small but fully equipped with complete medical facilities. They only treated families of military personnel or patients of higher status. Kai was the acting director of a medical school, so his status was high enough for the hospital.

Blake drove on. Since she was familiar with the roads, she avoided the traffic and arrived at Vanguard Hospital in less than half an hour. This was her first time coming here. The hospital seemed heavily guarded, and no entry was given without a special pass.

Blake was able to enter the hospital without any problem. The doctors swiftly brought Lana to the delivery room. A nurse checked on Lana while Kai and Blake waited outside. Ultimately, Blake could not resist and said, “Dr. Stewart, I wanted to talk to you about Madelyn.”

Kai placed his arms on his hips and waited by the door. He replied, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Since you’ve sent us here, you can leave now.”

Blake got closer and looked at him anxiously, “If you truly didn’t want me to ask you, you could’ve stopped me by the door. Since you let me in, that means you actually have something you wanted to tell me, right?”

Kai turned his head and stared directly at her. He observed her and then commented, “You’re smarter than you look. Even so, I won’t tell you where Madelyn is. She’s doing fine and there’s no need for her to return.”

Blake pursed her lips and then explained, “Dr. Stewart, a lot of things have happened through these few months. Mr. Jardin is being held captive by Cecilia and is in a coma. The company has ended up in Cecilia’s hands. It’s in danger, and she’s still keeping contact with someone secretly. I don’t know who this person is. If we continue to let Cecilia do this, Jardin Corporation will be ruined.”

“Kevin said that before Mr. Jardin fell into a coma, he left something with Madelyn. I heard from Cecilia that it was an inheritance document,” Blake continued.

“Now, it seems Cecilia has found Madelyn’s location. I came to you not just for selfish reasons but also to help Madelyn.”

Kai squinted his eyes and asked her, ” What relationship do you have with Cecilia?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
