The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1183

Liam looked at his phone and felt some discomfort. He thought to himself, ‘We shouldn’t be acting so distant like this, Blake.’

After fifteen seconds, Blake received Liam’s reply. However, Blake had placed her phone down. She was busy cleaning up the clothes in the house. When she heard her phone ring, she did not bother because she knew Liam would reject her leave application.

After a while, Liam sent her another message. Blake was carrying a basket full of dirty laundry and walking into the bathroom to wash the clothes. Then, she cleaned the entire living room.

By the time she finished doing everything, Blake saw that it was almost eleven. The things she had bought from the supermarket filled the entire refrigerator. Then, Blake took off her gloves and looked at the clean floor while drenched in sweat. To be honest, she had never cleaned a house like this before.

Besides that, she was boiling some vegetable soup in a pot. After this, she still needed to go to the drugstore to buy some medical gauze since she had used it up just now. When she came back to the room to check on Kevin, she noticed that he had woken up. Kevin sat on his bed, looking very tired.

“Why are you up? Give me a moment. I’ll go get you some vegetable soup,” Blake said.

Kevin placed his hand on his forehead. He had lost too much blood and was extremely weak. After two minutes, Blake brought a bowl of boiling hot soup into the room. It was so hot she had to pinch her earlobes.

“Why haven’t you left yet?” Kevin asked.

Blake sat by the bed and answered, ” How could I watch on while you got hurt like this? Besides, if anything happens to you, how would I find another boyfriend like you?”

“Alright, finish up the soup. I requested five days of leave. During this time, I’ll be taking care of you until you can get off the bed,” Blake ordered.

Blake did not ask where his injuries came from. She knew he had his reasons for not telling. Blake took a spoonful and blew on it. Then, she fed it to Kevin’s chapped lips. She told him, “Drink it. I made it, and I made a whole pot of it. If you can’t finish it, you can have it again tomorrow morning.”

When he saw Blake’s expectant look, Kevin could not bring himself to reject her. He opened his mouth and drank the very salty vegetable soup.

“Does it taste good?” Blake asked.

Kevin gave her an unfathomable look, but Blake did not think much of it. She said with a smile, “I found the recipe for it online. You can’t deny that Mr. Jardin is amazing. Ever since we got the internet and all these applications, we can search for anything we want to know.”

Kevin asked her, “Who else knows you’re here besides Liam?”

Blake thought for a while before answering, “No one else, I think. Why do you ask? Don’t worry, I took the subway here.”

Kevin replied, “I know.”

Blake was surprised and exclaimed in disbelief, “How did you know?”

Kevin continued, “Go to the study and bring me the items on the desk. There’s something I want to tell you.”

‘What the hell is happening? Kevin’s taking the initiative and actually going to tell me a secret?’ Blake thought.

She had a feeling it was going to be bad news. Seeing how mysterious Kevin was, Blake did as she was told. She walked into the study and saw a pile of pictures. There were pictures of her and Liam coming and leaving for work, some of them taken very recently. Blake was stunned speechless.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
