The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1182

It turns out Kevin had already fainted. Blake used all her strength to prop Kevin up and drag him back to his bedroom. Tears started to flow from her eyes uncontrollably.

“What happened to you, Kevin? Stop scaring me! Why are you covered in blood? What’ve you been doing these few days?” Blake cried.

Despite her crying, Kevin had no reaction. Blake quickly calmed down and muttered to herself, “I can’t panic. There must be a reason why he didn’t go to the hospital. There should be some medical supplies in the house.”

Blake started rummaging around and found the medication and some gauze under the coffee table in the living room. She cut open Kevin’s pajamas with some scissors because the blood and Kevin’s clothes were all stuck to the bloody and mangled wound. Blake cleaned his wounds with trembling hands and then spread some ointment over his wound. Kevin winced from the stinging pain.

Blake comforted him, “Just hold on a little longer. I just applied the ointment. It won’t hurt for long.”

When Kevin was still unconscious, his deepest memories started to surface. In a rundown basement were dozens of children aged eight to nine locked in cages. Kevin was among those children. He was also the quietest among the children. Many children were kidnapped here, but he grew up here.

As for what was happening, it was an ordinary everyday occurrence to him.

“I want to go home!” One kid cried.

“I want my mommy!” Another kid screamed.

“I beg you, let us go! I’ll give you all my toys,” One of the kids pleaded.

A young boy stood barefooted and dressed in messy clothes outside the cages in the cold basement. He brought a bucket carrying food for all the kids. The food was mush, and his appearance was a huge contrast compared to the fancy-clothed children. He had never seen such bright colors before. There were blue, green, pink and many more.

From the corner of his eye were people who were driven crazy or being buried alive. That place was a mass grave. It was for handling people who did not behave. Their cries kept going.

“Don’t cry. Stop crying. Everyone shut up,” Kevin mumbled out loud, delirious.

When Blake was applying the medication, she heard him mutter something. She got closer and heard him trying to stop someone from crying.

“Kevin, what do you mean “stop crying “? What’re you dreaming about?” Blake asked him.

“It’s okay, you’re fine,” Blake proceeded to coax him. After that, she wiped the sweat off his forehead and comforted him with a gentle tone. Finally, his mumbling subsided.

After applying all the medication, Blake remembered that there was still blood on him. She quickly went to the bathroom and brought out some warm water. Blake placed it on the nightstand before using a warm towel to wipe the dirt off his body. After she finished cleaning him, the low battery notification appeared on her phone.

Coincidentally, Blake saw that Liam had sent a message to her: [You free now?]

Blake quickly replied: [Mr. Xander, I would like to take five of my annual leaves in advance. I have some matters to attend to. Sorry for troubling you.]

Her tone was polite yet distant.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
