The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1170

On the way back, Liam suddenly asked, “How are things going with him?”

Blake, gripping the steering wheel, was momentarily stunned before replying, ” We’re okay. He went to the hospital last night, and we happened to run into each other. He told me that Cecilia wanted to find someone to take the CEO’s assistant position. But…” Blake did not continue because Zach’s fate was still up in the air. Blake overheard nurses chatting when she was in the hospital, saying that Zach was still unconscious. This matter had to be kept confidential. Even though she did not want to tell, Liam guessed what was going on.

He opened his eyes to look at Blake, ” Do you want to go back and compete for that position?”

Blake did not dare to meet his eyes, afraid that seeing them would make her change her mind. She thought, ‘I’ve just transferred to StartReading Literary not long ago. This company was founded by Mr. Jardin for Madelyn. Currently, most of the scripts and novels for show adaptations being discussed are personally selected by her.

‘Even though there have been changes, we can’t afford to stop our work.’ Blake replied, “No, my current job suits me well.”

Liam responded, “If it’s about the salary, we can negotiate.”

As long as Blake could stay, Liam was willing to give her all his money.

After she sent Liam home, she went back to the company to help with the work, while Sean had already gone to meet with the production crew. When it was almost time to get off work, Blake received a message from Liam.

[The meal with my family is this weekend.]

Blake was nervous, but she replied to Liam’s text: [Okay.]

After work, Blake received a call from the hospital. When she arrived at the Community Hospital, Simon was awake, and Grace was taking care of him.

Grace took Blake outside the ward. She looked worried as she said, “Blake, do you know what happened to Mya? Why doesn’t the Turner family allow her to come back? Mya isn’t smart, and she’ll never offend someone like Fred.

“You’re smart and have many ideas. Do you have any way to find out where Mya is?”

Blake could only comfort Grace for now. “Mya is doing very well. I saw her at Madelyn’s wedding. I could tell she was doing fine; she even gained some weight. Fred treats her quite well. Don’t worry, Mya will be fine.”

Grace replied, “If she’s fine and doing well, why doesn’t she come back? As soon as Simon woke up just now, he asked about Mya, wondering if anything happened to her. I didn’t know how to answer him.

Blake pursed her lips. “I’ll comfort him. The priority now is to make sure he recovers from his illness.”

She instantly felt a burden on her shoulders. She noticed she no longer felt as happy as she used to, when she used to go home and watch dramas with Mya after work. Things had changed.

Blake thought, ‘Now, Simon takes care of the entire Harper family’s business alone. He only has one daughter. If things continue like this, the Harper family might fall…

‘Maybe I’m just overthinking things.’

Simon could not stay in the hospital any longer and completed the discharge procedures at six-thirty in the evening.

After Blake brought Simon and Grace home, Blake realized he had somehow arranged for the family’s maid to prepare a large table full of dishes, all of which were Blake’s favorites.

He said, “This home has become quite quiet, without Mya and with you rarely staying here.”

Blake had grown up here and had always considered Grace and Simon her parents. They treated her like their own daughter too.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
